Did a lot of international travel for business, including many third world / near-third world locations. Some learnings:

    - Obviously nothing but bottled water and alcoholic beverages. I prefer beer. Definitely from the bottle, wipe the top with antiseptic rinse before drinking (carry a bit with you).
    - No salads or raw food of any kind, only cooked foods / brewed beverages like hot coffee.
    - Wipe eating utensils with antiseptic rinse you are carrying.
    - No drinking from glasses. No ice in drinks, even bottled water (what was the ice made from?). Use prepackaged straws.
    - When showering, never let the water hit your lips / get in your mouth.
    - Obviously, brush your teeth and rinse with bottled water.
    - No food or drink from untrusted sources (like street food).

Follow these rules and you'll miss some spontaneous fun, but you'll avoid some very unpleasant intestinal consequences. I learned from (rather nasty) experience.

If you ensure your intake is one part food to two parts Mezcal you will never throw up from food poisoning.

I lived in Mexico for 3 months and never got sick. We drank bottled water only, ate in restaurants, and shopped at the farmers market without any problems.

I think a lot depends on where you are in a country, I was in places like Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, Brazil, Chile, Peru etc and when you get a bit off the beaten path you need to adjust your habits a bit more.

Thanks for the stories/advice. My stomach typically is pretty strong so hopefully with as much precaution as possible, I'll be fine.

If I were King of Bigsoccer....people would be banned from posting links to bad actors/songs, etc so I don't have to look at a pic of David Hasselhoff with his shirt open every time I come to the forum.

    Rant over.

I love Mexico but my experience is limited to Baja. I driven from Seattle to Cabo a couple of times and flown down several. We ate local from street side vendors. Found the worlds best shrimp tacos from a food truck. We sought him out a few times. Back street restraunts you find the best food and music. Beer or bottled water
People have always been great. Never had any bother with food or people.
Don't be shy. Don't be an arse. Don't be a victim. Don't be dumb. :)

We plan on driving down again next spring.

Just been watching England vs Italy. (DVR) U 20 WC semi final.

England were 1 down in 3 minutes. Then they just took over the match. With 3 goals in the second half. 2 goals from the new Liverpool kid Solanke. He'll be a good un. The other from Everton.
    Italy faded badly.

    Venezuela in the Final.

It's a welcome change to see a group of players do the 3 Lions proud.

I recorded the Scotland Englaland match so I could watch Sunday morning. Good old Fox!!!

The first 35 minutes was filled with talking heads and old CL crap. Oh yhey do love their computer graphic images.
So they start the match around the 1/2 hour mark. Then 5 minutes in they tell the Final Score.

I went to my F1 race....
