He could've celebrated, after all he was boohed all through the game. Seems to be a decent kid though.

I think he was pretty good, but not at his world cup level. Lots of nice touches but not really imposing himself.

He played real well, but he can perform even better.

His forehead looks huge in that clip whereas in that Pedobear gif of him Shay posted on the previous page it looks normal. The stress of playing here must be causing his hairline to recede.

if anything, the stress of playing in madrid made him remember how to finish suddenly. He must have missed about 6-7 one on ones in the last 10 games for germany before thsi one.

Özil has picked up an injury, he might not play in Germany's game on Tuesday against Kazakhstan.

But it's nothing seriously, though. I say rest him anyways - the German team should be strong enough to beat them without him.

Could one of our German guests make themselves useful and explain the context surrounding these comments from Thomas Schaaf? Is he just hatin' on Mesut?

"When we speak of Mesut now, we only talk about his Gala performances," Schaaf told Syker Kreiszeitung. "But there were also periods of weak performance, such as in the early spring last year."

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/15/germ...en-coach-thomas-schaaf-criticises-mesut-oezil

I figure it's the least you could do since I had the brilliant idea to open a new Oezil thread and since I've had to endure watching some of you "lovesfesting" with socks on. Thank you in advance.

Just keepin' it real. Schaaf was vital in keeping Mesut grounded while he was at Bremen.

What is MVP...?. I cannot figure out the acronym. Something similar to man of the match, I guess??.

Lol. You know, I think he actually looks rather hot in that picture.

About Schaaf's comments, I don't see the need for them... I'd like to see a context.

MVP=Most Valuable Player - it's more of an American term.

    Lol....

Oezil was the best player in the Bundesliga in its first half last season. Then his performances tapered off in the spring. It is true. He finished the season strongly though.

As I posted before, I am a Werder fan and didn't notice Mesut until the World Cup. Then again, he's pretty hot with longer hair. Not this long, though. He can't pull off the headband look.

(Then again, now maybe I can dress as Oezil for Halloween...)

I think I read that he did something to his ankle during the game then did something to his knee during practice...?

How much of a Werder Bremen fan can you really be if you hadn't noticed Ozil until the World Cup? I don't get it.

He wasn't really noticeable whenever I watched games. It's not like I can watch every single cottonpicking Werder game.

Cottonpicking, eh? Haven't heard that expression in awhile.
Sorry, this still doesn't make any sense. Ozil was one of the top players at the club, surely he did some decent things in the game(s) you watched, even if he didn't shine.
Whatever, I'm not sure why I care, but this just sounded a bit silly.

I wouldn't take 'being a Werder fan' as too serious from someone who lists Chelsea and New England before them in her teams list.;):p

Just look at the place Bremen is standing now and the quotes of Almeida a couple of weeks ago.

    Nuff said.

How come some of you guys are spelling his name as "Oezil"?
