Well, that's the bind we are in, isn't it.

They need to be offended until they stop feeling offended.

Unfortunately for the type of all or nothing multiculturalists who believe that there is equally minimal harm in every attitude/culture, this particular attitude we face contains within it the seeds of grave harm, and must be faced up to.

The only way I see to face it is to insult it. But, to always explain why we do what we do while we do it, of course.

 

Then there was the Christian TV shit for brains Pat Robertson giving his Christian opinion on Jamal Kashoggi's murder.
He believes or he was told by god that we can't turn down a "potential" multi million buck deal over the death of one man.

Wonder if he's ever heard of the 5th commandment.

 

Pat Robertson is no more a Christian than you are mate.

 

Robertson is a firm believer in the 11th Commandment - "Republicans don't commit sins".

I'm fascinated by this kind of thing whenever I read it, because though most of us can relate to some variant of this, I do wonder also if it is not just our consciousness imposing its feeling onto a chemical-biological situation which we know (and feel) to be ceasing in that moment.

The reason I ask it this way is because it sounds perfectly plausible (spiritually) when one thinks of a dearly loved dog passing away, but how far does one take this "spirituality"? Down to a rat? A fly? An Amoeba? The HIV virus??

Interesting video. The most compelling element is that Dr. S. believes that he knows what the "real truth" is. He reports that "science" has come up with a category of human genetic expression that manifests itself in a particular fashion, namely "schizotypal" -- not schizophrenic enough to be marginalized but hearing voices, etc., just at the right time.

Now, he may be reporting the "real truth", or conversely, he may not be. What "science" occasionally does is construct a narrative that explains away what is "nonrational" from a very specific perspective. The actual "real truth" may be that the "nonrational" is theTruth, but it cannot be measured scientifically. So the "fault" is in the measuring devices, not in the phenomenon.
