Bury FC fans have just been sentenced to near certain relegation for not having enough money to pay their players. It's only 12 points, so you could argue that it still gives them a chance of staying up based on "sporting merit" but let's not kid ourselves..
You mean such as Dutch soccer fans wearing orange Indian regalia, including orange Indian headdresses, like the fans I saw at the Holland-Saudi Arabia game in DC during the 1994 World Cup?
Bury were promoted last season. Sporting merit dictates that clubs who overspend their means are penalized so it seems perfectly in line with that principle.
How so? Bury employed players they ultimately couldn't afford to pay and won promotion using those players. Surely there should be some form of sanction for that? Otherwise, why is that a level playing field with clubs that missed out on promotion - e.g. Mansfield etc?
That's called running a business successfully or not, its not inherently a component of sporting merit (which itself is a fuzzy undefined term).
Given that they are competing against other teams in a league, I disagree. Can teams ignore US salary caps with complete impunity?
Many winters ago, long before the white man came, Alowat-Sakima/Gitche-Manitou sent a storm that drove a couple of canoes with families up onto the ocean. They peddled for days and reached a shore where they were greeted by friendly natives and mingled. To blend in they sometimes use the natives favourite colour.
Dressing like that is cultural appropriation at minimum, unintentionally racist at medium, willfully racist at maximum.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/kurtba...most-valuable-sports-teams-2019/#4c94854d283d ^ The Knicks are the 5th most valuable sports team in the WORLD ... THE KNICKS Sooooo that metric really doesn't say much about being an elite sporting club.
I realize Darren Rovell is a symptom and not the cause for the conflation of brand and sporting ability, but he'll still be the first against the wall when the revolution comes.
It's freaking RIDICULOUS and YES Sadly he's the reason I was in an ESPN piece LOL .... but yeah, he's got quite a bit coming to him.
News outlets are reporting that Notts County have been saved with days to go before potential extinction. They must be mad!
There nearly always is. I hope Bury find one too. Very excited about the new owners. https://www.footballradar.com/ Football Radar is a leading provider of football betting advice. FC Andorra is "double-promoted" after buying their way into the third tier with a large payment by Barcelona player Pique. Pique now owns a team who will play competitive matches against Barcelona B.
