Yep Pure Killary stuff used for voter suppression. Can we stop pretending now? This tweet reads an awful lot like the Facebook content pumped out by Russian bot farms in 2016. https://t.co/SLpvgdbBQL— Brian Fallon (@brianefallon) October 18, 2019
It's amazing how we have to explain all this stuff again after events in 2016 Of course Moscow has long funded wingnuts on the left and the right - see Germany for example. In the last 4 years we've seen clearly how Moscow has funded groups on the right like the NRA but also played the useful idiots like Stein. Sometimes receipt of cash is knowing but it doesn't have to be. e.g. it seems highly likely Russian money found its way into vote.leave via a cut out benefactor (banks) What has been interesting is how increasingly in germany, Austria, Italy etc AfD and co have simply taken cash direct from Moscow or via "oligarchs" The Ukraine mobsters arrested by the FBI is another great example of that. Half a millions bucks straight to GOP congressman / GOP PACs The likes of Wilson have been pointing out for months that the Tulsi reveal was inevitable. In reality her usefulness to donors is as a candidate who will harm the DNC For her to go full "but hillary" just shows how 2016 is their only game plan hilarious stuff
The dems seriously need to find a stooge businessman to run as an indie libertarian righty in swing states
The other thing that is interesting is we now know 100% that Putin structures a bunch of his "meddling" via Ukrainian sources. Remember the likes of Greenwald were quick to trumpet that Manafort met with Ukrainians not Russians. But Putin is very good at structuring his machinations via cutouts So Joe and Vicki got paid $250K/mo by a corrupt Ukrainian oligarch to complain that Hunter Biden got paid $50K/mo? And does Fox News require its commentators to disclose their ties to the Russian mob, or should we just assume everyone has such ties? https://t.co/YaRaMo9SDI— emptywheel není česká (@emptywheel) October 18, 2019
She's not worth getting worked up over. She's at 1-2% so at best she's a marginally better third party candidate than Stein.

It’s really disappointing what has happened with Tulsi. I was excited about her in 2017. Her vet status gave her some credibility. I still think she would better serve her constituents as a congresswoman.
I'm not sure I'm all-in on the "she's a Russian asset" narrative, but I don't think she could've imploded worse out there as she continues her campaign. She sounds bitter, desperate, and paranoid. I can't imagine she's happy doing this.
The Yang Gang bots and trolls were boosting Gabbard a lot yesterday. He continues to at best be willfully ignorant regarding his messages to the alt-right and the like.
I do wonder what kind of impact Tulsi's Presidential run is having on her perception back home. It sounds like this Kahele guy is pretty serious in challenging her.
Take two minutes and listen to @AOC explain how a system that underpays and undervalues workers can leave them feeling worthless and how a candidate that fights for them can give them hope. #BerniesBack pic.twitter.com/ULu6rOSN46— jordan (@JordanUhl) October 19, 2019
The idea tulsi is antiwar is kind of funny Tulsi Gabbard’s record on Syria is worse than you think. In Nov. 2015, she voted with Republicans in favor of legislation to make it nearly impossible for Syrian refugees to come to the US. https://t.co/ijParJIslR— Caroline Orr Bueno, Ph.D (@RVAwonk) October 20, 2019
There are quite a few threads about Gabbard online. This one covers a lot and doesn't even get into her background much. Here's a reason why Tulsi Gabbard is a terrible candidate for President:- in 2017, she revealed she met Syria's brutal dictator Assad without informing top Democrats- she refused to call him a war criminal for years, instead she called US backed groups in Syria “terrorists” 1/— Wajahat Ali (@WajahatAli) October 19, 2019
She is not going to run 3rd party, this is more democrats losing their shit for any reason. The Trump presidency has made many Democrats into tin foil conspiracy theorist.
She has always had crazy believes, her father has probably had a big influence on her, that dude also has crazy ideas. She is not qualified to be president, but it has nothing to do with Russia.
Interesting debate going on Nate silvers timeline about trump flooding the zone with Facebook disinformation
My own view is the debate conflates two different aspects of Facebooks role. 1. @American Brummie has provided evidence that digital media is not effective at changing votes 2. Facebook is now a leading news platform since it successfully co-opted the digital audiences of the main news creators. This would see Facebook as a key place for opinion shaping, with the added bonus that with digital ads, there is no genuine gatekeeper as opposed to PR This is incidentally why deplatforming works. Wingnut media struggles to reach its audience if FB, YouTube and Twitter are closed tldr; facebook is just another part of the media mix Trump spent $44 million on Facebook ads (and Clinton spent $28 million) in 2016. That's small in the context of a presidential campaign! By comparison, Trump received $2.6 *billion* worth of earned online media, and about $5b worth of earned media overall. https://t.co/Xtteo8cCRx— Nate Silver (@NateSilver538) October 20, 2019
This is exactly my view. The real problem with Facebook is as the audience gatekeeper It now seems clear that content & news creators were suckered into building their audiences on Facebook instead of 100% owned audiences. One way FB did this was with fraudulently inflated video views. In short the platform is evil and the threat it poses to democracy is because it is putting actual news creators out of business because they cannot access all their own earned ad revenue. How Facebook affects what news people consume is almost certainly more important to election campaigns, probably by an order of magnitude, than anything having to do with advertising on Facebook.— Nate Silver (@NateSilver538) October 20, 2019
