Yeah that was the jist of my statement it went from almost every if not all games being on TV to 60% I think it won't sink in about how many games have shifted to Gold Pass until a couple of weeks. People still have the view of how it's been. This recent Gold Pass change is different. 380 EPL games, of that 230 will be on TV 150 on Gold Pass.
That has 39 out of the first 70 games (55.7%) on TV. To make 230 on TV, 191 of the last 310 games (61.6%) will need to be on TV. Considering that the first seven matchdays don't include any midweeks, which normally use one time on Tuesday and one time on Wednesday, it could mean that more weekend games will be on TV later in the season. Maybe CNBC will have games later in the season.
http://worldsoccertalk.com/2018/07/16/nbc-increases-premier-league-games-nbc-sports-gold-new-season/ Unfortunately I don't think that's the case. Will only be 230 on TV the other 150 will be on Gold Pass and if your team isn't a Big club i.e Top 5 more than half the games will be behind paywall. Big change from earlier years. "While the big clubs such as Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal will have approximately four games a season featured on NBC Sports Gold, many of the supporters of other Premier League clubs will find that more than 50% of their games will be streamed exclusively via NBC Sports Gold, as we saw last season."
In a weird and sadistic way all off these leagues being bought by ESPN relatively cheap ie Seria A 55mil pr year benefits MLS. It uncrowds the market not that Late Liga or Serie A had more viewers but a uncrowding is good, and we want ESPN+ to do well so ESPN get early 2010s flush with cash and MLS gets their new big FAT TV deal from ESPN
I dropped the sports extra on Comcast due to this and purchased the sling a la cart sports that has bein Got a Roku device and a year for $80 Nice
Forgot to mention. Unlike Comcast sling bein Comes with a subscription that allows you to use beinconnect
Direct TV also dropped BeIn today (at least I heard about it today). Don't think that's on topic, but it's at least relevant to the conversation.
Streaming on ESPN+ is probably your only option. The game is on local TV in Houston and Dallas but not other parts of the state.
Seriously? MLB and NBA regional broadcasts are state-wide, not city-wide. Why wouldn't Houston Dynamo or FC Dallas sell rights in Austin and San Antonio?
Oh, I'm sure that they would sell the rights if someone wanted to buy them. The Dynamo were on a regional sports network for a while that had regional distribution but that didn't last.
If nobody wants to buy the regional rights, then at least put a free stream on YouTube or something! What's the point of a Texas Derby if most of the state residents can't watch it?
