I’m sure the other school involved has nothing to do with why you are watching.. Which brings up something else why the Ratings are as high as they are.. Alumni from the colleges are watching the games even if they don’t normally watch the sport.
Bingo. Outside of college football and March Madness I generally only watch college sports when Washington is competing. I have watched college basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, and golf (and crew, on the rare times I find it) when its Washington though.
...and fans of those schools - or even conferences - who never attended, but adopted them as their team, are watching.
I'll refrain from renaming the Ducks based on what their logo looks like (also the number of National Championships they have) then.
And it's not just alums. This is the one chance for softball players and fans to watch their sport on national TV and for general sports fans to watch something different once a year.
Still too often for this guy. I do however enjoy watching a little curling every 4 years. After the first couple days of the Olympics...I'm over it.
I assume you are talking about the football team, since the overall Oregon sports program has around 50 or so national championships. Just wanted to throw that out there since we havent been worth a damn thing since Marcus Marriota walked out the door.
You only have him because we didnt want him No. Seriously. Who the hell thought Helfrich over Pertersen was going to work out for us?
Your chance to get Petersen was before he went to Boise St. He wasn't going to leave there for Eugene.
I'm sure that's true, in addition to the alums. Soccer doesn't really have the novelty factor going for it anymore, because there are so many televised games. I guess we'll know MLS has arrived when MLS Cup surpasses its early years novelty factor ratings.
With the United Bid winning the 2026 World Cup, I am curious to see how MLS will handle the next round of negotiations, seeing as most current rights are set to expire in 2022. Does the league negotiate a similar type of deal as the current one or try to get a short-term agreement, set to expire before 2026? Another possibility would be a longer-term deal to safeguard against a bidding war right before the WC, but which would come at a premium for the winning bid(s)...
You guys never could beat him regularly could you? No surprise the oldest highlight most Duck fans can remember was from the year after he retired.
Well they wouldn't need a long term term or a short term the negotions and announced deal will happen in May/Jun 2021 and take affect the following year in 2022. MLS most likey will go with a 8 year deal again.
https://deadline.com/2018/06/world-cup-ratings-opening-game-russia-saudi-arabia-fox-1202411344/ Ratings at less than half of 2014. Time zone had an effect, but ratings are down from 2010 as well. Perhaps the growth of soccer in the US has come to an end. Rant: I can't believe I am still seeing "this is why soccer will never make it in America" type of takes all over the internet. Soccer "made it" in America over 10 years ago. Maybe it's because I live in L.A. but it's much easier for me to find someone to talk soccer with than football...
