Start the year with 3 road matches (yuk) ...5 (including home opener) Friday night matches (double yuk)....and finish on the road at Atlanta (the one road match I promised myself I would attend this year).
It has to do with TSN wanting Friday games. I'm sure some SSHs are not going to be happy. Friday nights are hard to get to if you work.
no harder than Wednesdays...it is more a case of...you know it's Friday night....that said, yep it was obvious to anyone who read the press releases about the new TSN deal that there were gonna be a fair number of Friday night dates.
Just went back and re-read the TSN deal press release Yup, can't believe I missed that the first time. Can't say I'm looking particularly forward to those
The schedule is a mess. The Montreal games are crammed inside seven weeks. The Columbus games are crammed inside six weeks. The NYCFC games are crammed into 11 days. Instead of spreading these games against our three top "rivals" in the East, and thus giving the head office time to build up each one, it's the like they just wanted to get them over with.
it always amazes me when schedules seem to be oblivious to other actual events going on. So, this year Canada is celebrating it's 150th birthday....the actual day happens to fall on a Saturday....2 of the 3 Canadian based teams are out of town playing in the States.
Fixed your post. I agree - I've never understood why they can work the schedule around David Beckham's availability, but not FIFA International dates or Canadian holidays.
And now the Argos schedule is out too....and this year there are a couple of 4 day turnarounds. With Argos schedule out, here's a quick look at BMO Field's transition timelinea. Canadian Championship dates not out so not included.#TFC pic.twitter.com/charCtTFIv— Laura Armstrong (@lauraarmy) February 7, 2017
You're coming down to ATL are ye? We'll give you a torrid welcome, you foreigner! Hopefully our state of the art stadium is open by then. TFC is the one team I actively hate with a passion, so that will be fun. Enjoy our hospitality!
Because you're filthy foreigners with filthy foreign ways. For hundreds of years no one's ever been sure what you lot have been up to up there in the attic, but you're quiet and that's alarming. Then, when MLS expanded a franchise into Toronto instead of Atlanta, I knew what it was all about. Hundreds of years of quiet plotting to take my MLS franchise. Now I get it. Ever since then I've seen TFC as sum of all my footballing hatred. The sight of the TFC shirt fills my stomach with acid and my teeth are chipped from gnashing. Look forward to seeing you all come down!
Come on down and we'll eat bbq at Fat Matt's Ribshack and listen to live blues. Then we can fist fight in the parking lot of the game.
On the subject of trolling, will the MLS football team have the same habit of the other Atlanta football team playing a solid first half before folding like a cheap suit and watching Tom Brady and crew gallop across the field for touchdown after touchdown in the second half?
It's under discussion but most of our supporters have been quick to point out that it might be a bad idea. However if we play TFC and Tom Brady walks into the pitch in the #10 position, all bets are off. Went to watch Atl play their first preseason match, against Chattanooga, and their supporters lol had Patriots flags! Brilliant!!
