Good news that they trusted the kid to take a PK in that type of match. Nice to hear that they have that kind of confidence in him.
Just continuing this thread. As BostonRed pointed out in the main thread, Boyd didn't start today against Sturm Graz. Rapid went down in 1-0 in the 2nd minute after a last-man red card penalty. It's half time now.
Boyd started the second leg and is still on in minute 70, as Rapid lead 2-1 (3-2 on aggregate). The goal for Tripolis was scored by ex-Fire Sebastian Grazzini.
3-1 on a deflected shot from sub Schaub, that should ice it. Boyd has been a handful but wasn't involved in the goal.
So you would say he had a good game? Sounds like he has started out the season strong. I hope the rumored transfer to Watford goes through.
Boyd had a nice sliding assist on the first goal. He was active - had some nice hold up play, provided physicality in the attack, and had a few shots on goal...one that he probably should have put away. He also got a BS yellow card for minimal contact with the keeper who dove.
To be clear, I only watched 25 mins of the second half, but I'd say he was mixed. If I hadn't already known that he scores a lot of goals, I would've thought he was kind of like Ryan Johnson in MLS, an excellent workhorse but not enough of a threat in the attacking third.
