Pep Guardiola needs time to prove naysayers wrong at Manchester City https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ardiola-prove-naysayers-wrong-manchester-city
Jesus ********ing Christ people. Can we please get back onto topic here? Now, Kante is one of the best all around and most selfless footballers in Europe. His team mates told us as much. And he covers every blade of grass on the field. Discuss.
Meanwhile, Salah gets a perfectly superb and valid goal ruled out for offsides in the Roma v Pescara match. El Sharawy and Dzeko both missing some golden chances so far. Nainggolan now with the volley against the bar. 20mins in and this has been all Roma and they should have been easily ahead.
Roma finally break the deadlock with a goal from Strootman. Superb pass from Paredes for El Sharawy, who just lays it for Strootman. Nainggolan makes it 2-0. Dzeko with the assist. Salah finally gets his goal shortly after the restart, with a nicely place ball from the top of the box. Roma are strolling now...
Newcastle are going to be promoted in a matter of minutes. It will be good to have them back in the league.
He lacks any credible story lines It's interesting despite the obvious efforts from Sky to hype him up this season, the wider football media seem completely disinterested in him Little splashy coverage about his award
Salah at the double for Roma, who have been pretty wasteful but still getting a pretty easy win in the end, 4-1.
Maybe his personality has something to do with it. He looks like one the most unassuming and humble guys there is. A characteristic that interestingly fits very well and translates perfectly to his role on the pitch. Not everything has to be about BS drama, manufactured storylines or conspiracy theories, which we know is the type of stuff you just love to feast on...
He's a DM. Unless they play with "pashun" that translates to yelling at refs or breaking kneecaps, what splashy coverage are players like that going to get? How much splashy coverage did players like Deschamps and Makelele ever get? Or Vieira until he moved into a more box to box role?

Schick has done well with his appearances from the bench and has finally got a run of four consecutive full games with a goal each in three of them and an assist in the other. He is a confident, skilful kid.
The key for Pep now is going to be to secure a top 4 finish, which he should be able to accomplish. Compared to the expectations that came with him, it will still be a disappointment. But being that it was his first season in the Prem, he has the "excuse" of having to find out firsthand how different things are there compared to La Liga or the Bundesliga. And he's got support there at the moment, so next year will be vital for him. We'll see how well he's learned though from his transfer business, where he really should devote the majority of his attention and money on defensive players. 2 FBs, one CB and keeper are going to be the minimum requirement. He could probably do with a midfielder as well but the considerably strengthening the backline is going to be job #1. Failure to do that and the same thing that happened this year will happen again. And with everyone else around them likely to strengthen as well, it's not going to get easier next year. A big year for him to show what he's about...
This is an interesting part of sports. I think it's related to the way Rio Ferdinand never got the credit he was due because his game wasn't dependent on sliding tackles due to being out of place, etc. Or why certain players in other sports who are bad defenders, ie Westbrook in basketball, are thought by many to be a good defender simply because they try to look angry, etc.
All things considered Kante had a great season and his team are in first place. It was always going to be him or Hazard. Tbh I think the latter is more indispensable, but that doesn't make Kante any less deserving. Not his fault that the media has been on his dick all season. If we were in a better league position I might throw Herrera in there, and Kane too if Tottenham were to go on and win the league. Never really liked that they do these awards before the season is done.
Daniel Sturridge may have played last game for Liverpool because of injury https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...injury?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard
The english media fapped over Makalele You might have thought Kante would at least get an indepth profile for winning the PFA Anyway it's been obvious that Sky have been trying to hype him into a new star in the absence of anyone outside of Hazard to get excited about. Last season they at least had Vardy and "the dream". This season they staked a lot on the managerial drama but that storyline hasn't come off.
