The good thing with Arena is that he's not afraid to be a little controversial at times and do things that look out of the box. More importantly, let's hope he'll keep on selecting guys based on form and merit, and not just reputation. Yesterday was a great official start for him and they've got to keep that momentum going against Panama Tuesday. At least, there's hope for the games ahead. And it's not a bad thing at all to have a relatively large pool of players to choose from either.
Phoenix Rising (Who? Exactly.) already have Omar Bravo, Shaun Wright Phillips, Jordan Stewart, and may soon employ Didier Drogba too. Talk about a retirement team.
Greece have been ahead the whole second half v Belgium and they've been very much under the kosh this whole half so far. That being said, it would still be a very bad result if Belgium are unable to save at least a draw (which in itself would already be a poor result). Predictable unfortunately under Martinez...
Ronaldo with 2 good goals against Hungary. He has started in monster form in this qualifying campaign.
Lukaku with a huge goal for Belgium close to the death to tie things up. Still a very poor result at home.
The first was tremendous because he it it, with his weaker foot, from distance with a challenge, near post, fully expecting to score. Not many people score that goal with their weaker foot. I thought Portugal looked loose. They dont seem to have the same panicked play or lack of composure I've seen in the past.
Holland defeat to Bulgaria leaves them fourth in group A and in real trouble of not qualifying for second tournament. Amazed they have stuck by LVG disciple Danny Blind; - played a 17 year old CB (when other options available) who had little confidence / game time and made mistakes that lead to both goals, then hooked him at half time - did the whole LVG sideways and backwards stuff (most possesssion and passing between CBs) - left Depay (who has form at the moment) on the bench the whole game, presumably because he dares to take people on / risk low percentage incisive passes

Cryuff will have a statue built on his honor at the Camp Nou. www.bbc.com/sport/football/39391826 Well deserved and something that was always coming tbh...
Under the circumstances, this is really not a bad team at all though. Hart and Stones are my only points of contention in that XI. Would have been nice to see Rashford get a shot, but it's hard to argue against Defoe's form this season.
Leno and Kimmich starting for Germany vs Azerbaijan. Unbelievable that Gomez still gets to start up top for Germany: I know they must be ready for a great striker to finally come thru...
Germany firmly in control of this game. Schurrle opens the score after some good interplay between Draxler and Hector. Meanwhile, Defoe puts England ahead vs Lithuania. Azerbaijan ties it up. But that only served to wake up the Germans who are now 3-1 up (Muller, Gomez)
Are you watching? Was wondering if Mkhitaryan was moved further forward after the red card for Kazakhstan.
Alli and co currently playing a selfish game of shoot from anywhere to try to pad their stats. Rashford has been lively but the rest of the team are just not interested in linking up with each.
i've been flicking back and forth. Armenia's tempo dropped after the 2-0 though so hard to say he looks more parked in central midfield though. Kazakhstan has been probing but they have only just created a good chance.
