Switzerland has always been a bit ahead of the scandinavian countries in the uefa 5 year ranking. this is maybe due to the fact that countries like Denmark and Sweden lose their most talented players to english clubs quite early
Sven Hotz has said time and time again that the new Hardturm is the only option for FCZ. Some FCZ fans would prefer to stay in the new Letzigrund but that's not gonna happen...
Wow, this comes as a big surprise to me. So the New Letzigrund is only going to be for track and field? But then again, when IS the new Hardturm going to be built? Can't imagine it being ready before 2010, there is some legal issues left, right?
Yes, the Letzigrund will be for track & field, concerts, amateur sports and other events. It will continue to belong to the city. As for the new Hardturm, it's still stuck in court. After the next decision it can still go to the national supreme court for a (final) verdict. We should know next year sometime...
in Lausanne, there also should be two stadiums in the future. One for track & field, one for football
I think the supporting pillers spoil the third tier of St Jakob (not that the stadium was nice enough to spoil in the first place ). To not be able to build a stadium without pillers holding the roof up in this day in age is very poor in my opinion. LL
Something about red chairs going better with the color of the track. I know FCZ fans have already voiced their discontent...
only 12500 places + shopping center, 6 gym halls and underground parking the old stadium had officially 22000 places, but against Real Madrid there were once 25500 spectators when Xamax won 2-0 in the UEFA cup quarter final 1986 well, I guess in the league they could get an average of about 9000 - 10000 spectators. They rarely would have more then 12500 anyway. Maybe against Servette or Basel...
the foundation of the stade de geneve agreed to pay the outstanding 11 mio. francs. This avoids an auction of the stadium btw, does anybody know if there will be a new project in Thun?
Good to hear, that issue has been in limbo way too long. If I remember correctly there are still some minor things that need to be completed on the stadium. Is that going to be done now?
well, the city of Geneva and Lancy are part of the stadium foundation and now yesterday just one day after the foundation decided to pay 11 mio. people in Geneva are already protesting against it and willing to take action against. The city of Geneva ought to pay 2.5 mio of the 11 mio. For works, they have to close the top with some plexi yet, I think. Some meeting (reception) rooms are still not finished etc...
Does anyone know a site with good AFG Arena construction pics. The official site only have pictures from the IKEA construction, really lousy...
