Meyrin gets Basel. GCZ gets Cham, who is just down the road.
http://www.cupplay.ch/de/Cup-Play/Live.aspx Lots of matches from clubs that you have never heard of before.
A bit of a scare over FC Bavois. With the influx of Turkish players I was expecting more from this season so far. I am worried if the results don't come in the BCL we could have another Servette or Xamax. Heck! That might happen regardless of what happens on the pitch! Next Rd in the Cup is Schaffhausen, could be tricky.
Cham had a 1-0 lead going into the 81st minute against GCZ and were looking pretty good... then GCZ remembered who they were and scored 4 times in 13 minutes to win 4-1. Held out hope the hosts could win it, but no such chance. Still not as bad as the beatdown that FCSG put on 7th tier (didn't even realize Switzerland had a 7th tier) FC Hausen am Albis, 9-0, or the one that Biel/Bienne put on 6th tier FC Grand-Sacconex 10-1. Only three home teams won in the first round: FC Red Star Zurich, FC Bulle, and FC La Chaux-de-Fonds. Of the 16 games, the most appetizing are Chiasso/Young Boys, Schaffhausen/Wil, Winterthur/Biel. The greatest chance for an upset would be between Ticino rivals Bellinzona and Lugano, as they are separated by 4 divisions.
Servette missed a chance at an upset. Luzern was playing pretty poor up to this past weekend, but they showed up for the match against Servette. FC Gontenschwil (2) - FC Azzurri 90 (1) 0-2 FC Brunnen (2) - FC Sion 0-2 SC Buochs (1) - Le Mont 0-2 SC Kriens (PL) - Young Boys 1-2 SC Cham (PL) - Grasshoppers 1-4 BSC Old Boys (PL) - FC Schaffhouse 1-2 FC Pratteln (2) - SV Muttenz (2 int) 2-3 AS Castello (2 int) - FC Lugano 0-2 FC Bulle (2 int) - FC Dardania Lausanne (2 int) 2-1 FC Matran (2) - AC Bellinzone (2 int) 1-4 FC Grand-Saconnex (2) - FC Biel/Bienne 1 - 10 Meyrin C (2 int) - FC Basel 0-4 FC Ticino (3) - FC Lausanne-Sport 0-3 FC Bavois (1) - FC Wil 1-3 FC Stade Nyonnais (PL) - FC Chiasso* 2-2 SR Delémont (1) - FC Winterthour 0-1 FC Konolfingen (2 int) - FC Martigny-Sport (1)* 1-1 FC Länggasse (3) - FC Wettswil-Bönstetten (1) 1-2 FC Küsnacht (2) - FC Wohlen 2-9 FC Red Star (2 int) - FC Oberwallis Naters (1) 1-0 FC United Zurich (1) - FC Aarau 0-5 FC Rheineck (3) - FC Köniz (PL) 1-7 SC Brühl PL) - Neuchâtel Xamax FCS 1-5 FC Uzwil (2 int) - FC Sierre (2 int) 0-0 FC Arbon 05 (2) - SC YF Juventus (PL) 1-4 FC Härkingen (2) - FC Breitenrain (PL) 0-4 FC Soleure (1) - FC Thun 0-4 FC Tavannes/Tramelan (2 int) - FC Zurich 1-6 FC Pied du Jura (2) - FC Münsingen (1) 1-3 FC Hausen am Albis (3) - FC Saint-Gall 0-9 Servette FC (PL) - FC Luzern 2-5 FC La Chaux-de-Fonds (1) - Zoug 94 (1) 3-1

Swiss Cup matches today: Wettswil-Bonstetten - Thun Muttenz - Basel Red Star Zurich - FC Koeniz FCSG - Luzern
28 Oct Wettswil-Bonstetten - Thun 1-2 Muttenz - Basel 1-5 Red Star Zurich - FC Koeniz 1-2 FCSG - Luzern 2-3 29 Oct Aarau - Le Mont 2-0 Schaffhausen - Sion 2-3 Winterthur - Lugano 0-2 YB - FCZ 1-3 Aarau is the only home team to win. 12 December next round (Round of 8) Aarau - Luzern Lugano - FC Koeniz Sion - Basel Thun - FCZ It seems like Aarau and FCZ are throwing all that they can into the Swiss Cup, as their league play is pitiful.
The Cup is all we have going for us... I don't get my club at all and what on earth they are doing. I am sure they will be passing Servette in that direction as they switch divisions... I fear though that we will never stop dropping.
I think they will stop, the fans have still kept coming but for how long. They still are getting some revenue. I know the stadium issue is still up in the air, but they should not drop two or three leagues in that many years. Lots of odd things going on.
Swiss Cup locations 29 May 2016 - Zurich 2017 - Geneva - One big plus is that there is a train station right at the stadium, it is not really used, but they can take the special trains with the ULTRA fans right to the stadium, and not have them march through the old town.
The final is at the Letzigrund? That's a bummer. The seats are so far from the action. I'm OK with rotating the final venue, but I wouldn't hold it at the Letzigrund. Curious why they don't hold it at the Stade de Suisse. Is it because of the turf?
The city did not want it after the last time (2 years ago) when Ultras caused a lot of damage downtown. Basel is out this season because it is hosting the Europa League Final a few weeks before. Why that should really matter, I have no idea, but it did. Realistically there are about 5 places that could hold it. St Jakob's Park Stade de Geneve Letzigrund Swissporarena AFG Arena
Hadn't realized that the ultras trashed the city. The nation's capital would be the perfect place for a Cup final. I think Swissporarena is too small. AFG Arena could maybe host it, though. They approach 20,000 seats. Stade de Geneve is definitely up there. The Letzigrund is big and ugly. I'm just not a fan of it.
Yes Swissporarena is small, but it is a great location. If there was a small club in the final, St Jakob's looks really empty. Holding it in a smaller arena might drive up demand for tickets.
12 Dec Aarau - Luzern Thun - FCZ 13 Dec Lugano - FC Koeniz Sion - Basel All will be streamed on cupplay.ch
12 Dec Aarau - Luzern 3-4 Thun - FCZ 1-4 13 Dec Lugano - FC Koeniz 2-0 *Sion - Basel 2-2 Sion or Luzern are the favorite.
2 March 2016 Luzern - Lugano 1-2 Sion - FCZ 0-3 So the Europa League knock-out round slot will go to one of the three teams that might be relegated at the end of the season. Sion missed a huge chance.
I can't believe both of these teams were in the final. Feels like a missed chance for Grasshoppers to add cup title number 20.
Blown opportunity for a lot of teams. Neither of these clubs deserve to be playing in Europe. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
I think Sion has to be the team that is really mad at themselves. After missing out on the Europa League spot, they had FCZ at home and were soundly defeated in the semi-finals.
