Some time after a very disappointing season for "my" team, IFK Göteborg, I'm looking forward to the next one.
Now when the transfer-window opens priority number one has to be a left back. Logi Valgardsson has been way to bad this season to get another chance. It seems like the coaches has understood that too. Rumors says that Ludwig Augustinsson from Brommapojkarna will join us the next season. To be honest I don't know anything about him, except that he's young and talented. Anyone here who knows something about him?
I've also heard that Emil Johansson from Groningen might be an option. I'd love that. I remember him playing for the swedish U21 national team in the euros here in Gothenburg. I think that was in 2009. HERE is a link to a very beautiful goal he scored for Hammarby.

Another thing we need to get is a quality-striker. This year we didn't have a distinctive goal-scorer and that's what we need next season. I've heard that "we" are interested in Marcus Berg. Marcus played for IFK until 2007 (?) and in his last season for the club he scored and scored and scored. He also won the U21-euros golden boot after scoring 7 (!) goals in the tournament. Btw, players like Özil and Balotelli only scored one ;) He plays for Hamburg right now, but he will (probably) leave them now in winter/summer. Unfortunately he has said that he don't want to come back to Sweden yet. If Marcus doesn't join IFK (which I don't think that he will), who do you guys think will be our (new) top-striker for next season?

That's just some of my thoughts, I hope (and pray) for a better season next year!

    Hi there Dawe7!

A fellow IFK supporter. How nice! Well I do agree that Valgardson have been showing once and for all that he´s not worthy a spot in Gothenburg. A nd so yes, the left defensive spot should be open for change. Perhaps a real quality attacker should be signed as well, although Hysén as we all know is a quality striker when in form off course. In central defensive position we might see some change too? Bjärsmyr has a short contract and Waehler haven´t been top notch. Dyrestam wants to play there bur he´s very injury prone unfortunately. Highly talented off course. Jonsson....well, if he gets a renewed contract he´s more seen as a farther figure for the youngsters and a back up player at best, for me at least. Central midfield looks strong. Maybe we would also need that winger after all?

Basically we are justpsycholically drained after the 3rd conecutive season in No-Mansland! I think we have a decent foundation in which to build upon, but it sure needs some refinement an readjustments.....It seems as if attacker Stiller will have his contract prolonged a further season. Jonsson as well.....

Nice to see you here Sir! A real IFK supporter too. Wonderful! I hope to see you here continiously, and to the coming season, giving us your views on IFK Göteborg!

One of the most important things now during the transfer-period is to make sure that Bjärsa stays for as long as possible. I'm not sure what I think about Waehler yet (after a whole season :p), when he signed I was very thrilled, because of what he had accomplished earlier, but after a descent season I'm not so happy anymore. I still think he's a quality-player though.

Just after that I posted my earlier reply in this thread, I saw that Stiller had signed a new contract. I'm very happy because of that, he seems to be a great guy and he's a killer in the box, which is perfect to put in with around 20 minutes to play when you need to score. What's your opinion about Stillers new contract? In the beginning of the year (and earlier) I had the feeling that he was very popular among us fans, but during the season and after I think that it has felt as if he's not that popular anymore (even though he pretty often made an impact on the game when he got the chance play, not at least against Malmö away) and I've seen fans writing that they don't want him in the club anymore.

Hasn't Dyrestam already decided to leave? I think that I've read it somewhere...

A winger would be nice too, now when Selakovic has left I think that we might need one. I just hope that Joel Allansson gets more time on the pitch next season (which he might not get if we buy in another winger). He's extremely talanted and I think that he can become a man for the A-national team in the future if he's lucky and doesn't suffer with to many injuries.

    Always nice with IFK-supporters, cheers!

Wow, it´s uplifting to meet a positive Angel-supporter for once. Entering an Angels-forum is practically like entering the Valley of Death at the moment. Depressing. I guess you´re one of those belonging to a younger generation of Angel supporters. They are generally more positive in their outlook regarding the club. We the older generation are used to seeing IFK win trophies at will almost. It´s time for me to wake up and face the facts! We have to start digging really deep and work hard as a club and as supporters in order to regain some of that distance we´ve lost to the top sides. I feel IFK are lacking in several keyfactors regarding their approach on things.

To start with, we need to regroup big parts of the organisation now that two key figures in administrative positions have left the club. Vaihela and Olsson. Replace them with two really competent people. Erlingmark is a good option for one of the positions.

Secondly regarding the Sportsdirector position taken by Mild. Well, he´s a Legend of the club no doubt, but my confidence regarding him will soon run out if he doesn´t start improving regarding his ability building squads. For example he made a clear blunder before this season when it came to filling up the defensive positions. When most of the suupporters clearly could see the lack of quality in that particular part of the team he dismissed it altogether and went ahead and signed too many central midfielders. He got well known names to the club alright, but perhaps instead of just buying Farnerud and trying to find another central defender for example, he just were to stubborn and bought Gerzic too. Another good player sure, but the balance was suddenly astray altogether.

The last point I made perfectly symbolizes our season as a whole where early on we had a few injuries to our defense. This meant that our poor coach were forced to at one point play to central midfielder in defense. All just because we were basically utterly weak when it came to our defensive roster. All thanks to mister Mild. Amateur error.

To further aggrevate the supporters and having it deteriorate even more we were punnished by fatal individual player-errors, fatal refereeing mistakes early in the season. This whole mess meant that our Golden hopes were dumped very early on indeed. In a way it is actually a minor miracle that we "pulled" off a 7th place. This brings me to the player you mentioned first (and so spot on). Becauase if it wasn´t for Bjärsmyr´s arrival at the club and the comeback in the Sundsvall game we would probaly had been more or less looking at qualification-games. Or close to at least. What a disgrace really. With one of Scandinavia´s finest training facilities, fantastic supportership, strong sponsorship and generally respected club amongst many we ought to have more competence in some of those things I mentioned above.

Ye, pleas. If I were Mild I would definately try to build strong central line first of all. As you wrote Daw7, go all in on Bjärsmyr. Put a fat contarct and good wage in front of him. See to it also that Farnerud will stay further that planned (maybe not realistic). Try to get Hysén to score goals up front again. So if we look at it that way things might not look that aweful roster-wise and looking t the actual central line of players we have. As you wrote, Allansson basically a preferring a central spot, but give him the benefit of the doubt and let him play more. Can Bärkroth actually produce in a top club? Well, if he can, then IFK suddenly don´t need that many ne signings to be fair. The only thing I´m still sure of, is that we need to strengthen in left defense. There are signs that Mild are also looking hard for a left flanker of some kind. Is either/both a winger and defender there? Well, Bahaoi was on their radar. That sugests that IFK were looking for a left winger. Augustinssonis another guy now. That sugests they are looking also for a left defender. They know off course that Valgardson is not good enough.

Regarding Stiller. Well, I think it was the correct desicion. We know what kind of player we get. He´s a good back up attacker who never complins being benched. He can be subbed in and score late winners. He´s experianced. A farther figure for the youngsters. And he´s cheap looking at his wage. Above all he loves the club and it is always good to have those kinds of character-builders in your side. Hjalmar Jonson fits in most those aspects as well. But when it comes to him I´m a bit devided actually. He´s a back up player too, but he also jsut fills up a spot on the bench when we could perhaps instead school in another youngster in his place.....

I got a bit carried away, writing a long boring . I just need to write off some of that irritation I still feel from the past season. Thank Mild for that. Write hime the check. See this as yoga practice for me......

See you Angel buddy! I´m greatful for having you here Sir!

It's true that I'm in the younger generation, I'm seventeen years old, so I haven't experienced the glory days back in the 80's (more than stories my dad has told me). I'm always positive before the season that's coming and always thinks that we will win the gold, even though we're often not good enough. As you probably can understand that leads to that I'm often frustrated and sad during the seasons, when I realize that we're not as good as I thought we were...

It will be interesting to see what the champions from this year, Elfsborg, will do during the transfer window. Midfielder Oscar Hiljemark will (probably) leave them. He has already visited clubs like Nice and Anderlecht, and will soon visit PSV too. I definitely think that he's ready to move, and it will be a big setback for Elfsborg when/if they loose him. It will be interesting to see how the other talanted players, Niklas Hult and Viktor Claesson, does. If they loose Hiljemark + one of the two earlier mentioned, I think that it will be hard for them to defend their title. Hult got injured in the end of the season and Claesson has only played for Elfsborg one season (?), so I think that they will stay.

Sure they lose Hiljemark, a great talent no doubt. I´m guess Sports Director Andreasson will have no difficulty finding a replacement. Most players want to come to Elfsborg at the moment. I´m seing a guy like Bedoya being under the radar. Wouldn´t surprise me if he enters the squad. They bought Tom Söderberg, the central back now that they lost Augustsson. On the other hand it is always difficult to be chased. Now all eyes are on them and the pressure is on.

    Heja Blåvitt!

It was indeed a very special night. I had mixed feelings of course, but all in all it was a very worthy ending of an era. The game itself was great, AIK putting up good against Napoli. A real shame that Cavani managed to get a penalty shot, but it was a fair judgement from the referee.

However, the game was not the important thing this magic evening, but rather the people on the terraces. A sold-out Råsunda chanting for the last time, expressing all the love and agony we've felt for the last 75 years on this worn down stadium. I have never witnessed a football audience performing like this during my twenty years or so on the terraces. It was otherworldly somehow, and it is a feeling that I will remember as long as I live.

The dismantling of Råsunda is something truly tragic, not just for AIK supporters but for Swedish football. Without this venerable arena we are now truly on the path towards modern, corporate football. AIK moving to Friends Arena, DIF leaving the monumental Stockholm Stadion and Bajen saying goodbye to classic Söderstadion. These were arenas free from corporate influence (at least to a certain degree), something that will from now on only be a distant memory of what football used to be. In the future we will reference to the "days when football actually meant something".

While Friends and Tele 2 arena might very well be fantastic football arenas, from a architectural perspective, I believe these will never be in the hearts of the supporters. There will never be any chanting about "Friends Arena", it will never truly be our home. It will just be the place were we play, a corporate construction we rent to have somewhere to exercise our culture. But the arena itself will never be part of that culture, at least not the way Råsunda was. She was a part of AIK just as vital to us as the crest on our shirts, our songs, our players and our colors. She was our bastion against the rest of the world, where visiting teams would enter with trembling knees to hear the unforgiving roar of the Black Army.

She was the place where AIK celebrated the ecstasy of victory, and mourned the agony of defeat. I stood on the barren terrace of Norra Stå at a time when less than 3000 people would go to a AIK game, and during the golden days when Råsunda was sold-out, bustling with supporters.

I have a seat from "Norra Stå" in my apartment, and that is all that will remain of her. That, and a lifetime of memories. But never again shall the sun shine over Råsunda Fotbollsstadion.

Question for the IFK and DIF supporters here: how would you describe your sides playing philosophy? It looks like IFK mostly relies on a 4-4-2 and DIF changes its formation around a lot more.

More generally for everyone what are the most prevalent styles of play in the Allsvenskan? I see a lot of 4-4-2, 4-4-2 Double Six, and 4-3-3 and not so many that get adventurous with a 4-2-3-1 or the like.

I would say coach Stahre at Göteborg opts for a 4-4-2, yes definately. But he seems to change the set up somewhat depending on which are the opponents and players elidgable. The foundation is a 4-4-2, but it could potebtially be altered a lot. He likes his wing backs to overlap a lot for example. Early on in the season I noticed he played two two ways-going central midfielders, but then later during the season tried to shut the door better centrally and placed a slightly more defensive central midfielder like Johansson just tucked in behind Farnerud, who is supposed to be one of the main creators on the field. Often Stahre plays a 4-4-1-1 too with a one attacker falling off a bit behind. The problem I see it for IFK the past season is that we´ve been loaded with a huge number of really high class central midfielders but have lacked some really good wingers. Therefor Stahre´s playing philosophy hasn´t been entirely suitable to the current roster, or maybe vice-versa depending on how one sees it. This is the main focus right now from many Angel supporters. They are now hoping for a sustainable solution regarding this issue. Either we opt for, let´s say a 4-3-3 or a similar line-up, considering all our fine cetral midfielders. That is change the tactics, and also wouldn´t need a lot of new signings....or we basically start signing a few wing defenders and wing midfielders. The problem then is that we also probaly need to strenghten in central defense according to a few. Maybe even an attacker (although I believe we still have one of the best attackers in Hysén).

I would also like to ad that Stahres been getting a lot of slack for playing a few dudes in the wrong positions and also having new starting elevens to each game. Although the last factor mainly has been due to all the injuries, especially in defense early on in the season.

Generally speaking I would say that some of the coaches belonging to the new generation like for example Norling at Malmö are often more adventurous in the tactical outlook, although there are exeptions as always.

beautifull said sir.. Really feel your passion for AIK and for the Rasunda stadium in this text. Although I'm not an AIK fan myself I do find it awfull to see a great stadium like the Rasunda dissapear.. I actually wanted to go to a AIK match in the Rasunda this season but due to the bad finalcials it wasn't possble :( Well good luck in the new stadium .. hopefully it will be AIK's home in the future but I can tell from my own expiernce at Ajax that it will be very difficult.. We are in the Amsterdam ArenA since 1996 now but it still doesn't feel like our stadium like our old stadium 'de Meer' did..

Does make me happy that IFK still plays in the Gamla Ullevi! :D Really like that stadium and hopefully IFK will play there for many years ! :D

I totally agree Afca_Mokum! I used to think Ullevi was too small and perhaps it is should be around 25000 to be perfect for the bigger games we play. But all in all a decent, tight little arena suiting Göteborg for the time being.
And yes when it comes to AIK´s new arena.....I meen it´s absolutely HUGE man! It looks enormous. Reminds somewhat of AmserdamArena indeed. But Ajax is a huge club and I still feel they fill it up each week so no major problem. Great atmosphere created by 50000 Ajax fans. But for AIK....hehe I´m sorry but I think that a 30000 arena would be perfect for them. Some kind of modern edition of the old Råsunda. AIK will perhaps fill this one up half-way. I would think around 25000 spectators in avarage. Even with those curtains up it will look very empty is my guess. Friends Arena is beautiful strictly looking ate the architecture. Is it atmospheric? We´ll see what AIK can do.

For UFFDA and FCBayern´s Djurgården, they are getting a perfect arena of around 30000. That arena is my new favourite arena in Sweden at the moment, together with Malmö´s in 2nd place. I also like Kalmar´s and Öster´s new arenas. Those were built for these particular clubs and are not event-arenas.

Can AIK_Stockholm give his view on this?

Her are my favourite arenas in Sweden

    1st place Tele2Arena (Djurgården)
