Hey IFKGotet, how do you feel about Ragnar Sigurdsson? Should he be sold? And if so, any idea where he would go?

    Hi UFF DA!

Well, his contract runs out 2011 and if they don´t sell him before that he´ll become a Bosman-case.

He is a well respected defender in the Allsvenskan no doubt. The problem though, is that he isn´t that motivated any longer to play in the league. He himself wanted to leave even last season but IFK opted to keep him. They then could have sold him for much greater sums than the case is right now.

Sportsdirector Mild believes he will be sold somewhere around January. The fans also wants him to leave the club because of his lack of motivation to continue play in the league.

He is the best central defender in their rooster no doubt. He deserves to play in a bigger league.

I´m not yet shure which clubs are interested in him though. I guess you and I have to find out soon :)....

    Greetings from Sweden:)

    Thanks for the info!

I read the IFK fans were very unhappy with his lack of motivation. So it's understandable that they would want him to leave. It's too bad, because it sounds like he has lots of talent.

I'm curious to see where he'll end up.

Speaking of talent, I read today that Djurgarden has no finances for big name players...and what little finances they have will be fed into youth talent. This is worrisome to say the least...is it safe to say that other clubs are dealing with this issue as well?

I have no problem w/ DIF's current squad. Tenth place isn't a bad finish...but it isn't very good either. I guess at this point all I can do is hope we can find some good young players that won't cost a whole lot of $$$. It's a shame though, I would expect/hope for a club from Stockholm to not have this issue. Can't H & M put up some more finances for Stockholms Stolthet? :)

Yes I can really understand yours and other Djurgården-fans frustration. Djurgården is definately one of the classical big clubs of Sweden.

But just as many other swedish clubs they are trying to regroup at the moment. Re-organize things in the club. Remember that 2011 will be a "middle-year" for the Bluestripes. This is not the year when they will buy expensive signings. A bright future is looming for the club as their new arena will be built soon. Only some paper-work and minor agreements with politicians in the way. Only a matter of time. And a new era in Djurgården history will begin. The new arena will mean much greater incomes. And at the same time DIF will just as other swedish clubs try to better their organizational work as well.

So have patiance. To put it all into a more compact context :

*Better organization within the club. Emphesizing proffesionality right through the organization-from youth trainers to the highest leadership within the club.
*New supermodern arena will be build. Only question is WHEN it will be built.
*All resulting in huge improvement when it comes to the income bracket and therefor greater possibilities to sign better players in the future, and subsequently gerater possibilities to do better in both Allsvenskan and also Europe.

So even if we are seeing a short period of regroupment for the club I still think they will do reasonably well 2011. Although this is not the a big year. But don´t worry their period will come when everything falls into place with the above mentioned restructuring. DIF will always be one of the clubs in Sweden with the biggest potential.

Djurgården earlier said that they don´t need the kind of player Johan Arneng represents. They said no to him. I´m a bit puzzled still by this. He would be a great newcomer to the team. They are trying to get Concha. But he wants to stay in German football. Sharbel Touma is lost to Assyriska. He had a great season for DIF. On the other hand Joel Riddez is now signed and ready to play for his old club. That´s great news. He loves Djurgården and will be really motivated. Also remember that Pehrsson is signed as the new manager for the club. Another former Djurgården player. Well respected in the club.

Djurgården is doing just fine. Stockholm clubs probably have learnt from their earlier naive mistakes of buying expensive, well known players without thinking to much about molding together a great collective and harmonious rooster. A more proffesional perspective. They are re-thinking and doing the right thing. At least Djurgården and Hammarby at the moment. We´ll see if AIK will continue to be destructive or not.

The new arena will finally represent and symbolize the new era in Djurgården Footballs history.....

I trust you know what you're talking about. :)

Joel Riddez spent some of his youth playing for Djurgarden, correct? It'll be good to have him back, and I'm sure he'll be a great addition to the squad. So yes, with him, Pehrsson, and a new arena in the works (which I hope to visit in person some day), you're right, DIF is doing just fine, and I will need to be patient.

And I'm sure AIK will continue to be destructive. ;)

As reported earlier, DIF will be investing in youth talent for 2011. There will be a focus on their Under 21 squad, and according to coach Carlos Banda, three players to keep a close eye on are:

    Daniel Earl, 19, central defender

Joakim Alriksson, 18, midfielder (who you may have seen on the pitch towards the end of the last match of 2010 against Halmstad)

    Philip Sparrdal-Mantilla, 17, central defender

Erik Friberg of BK Häcken will be heading to Seattle for the 2011 season! I'll be sure to give him a very warm welcome. :)

    Another coup in Stockholm!

Earlier we saw Djurgården fans inscripting their support for their club inside the Lennart Johansson-Trophy.

Now we are informed of another coup. Yet again it is a Stockholm club involved. AIK-fans have infused a huge AIK-flag within a 30 centimeter layer of concrete in their new arena being built in Solna. Some of the construction-builders are evidently AIK-supporters themselves, thus making this coup possible.
