Dom Kinnear traded Wondo (who at the time was a 26 year old no name journeyman) from Houston to San Jose for Cam Weaver who retired as a player 5 years ago at age 30.

Now after many years of adversity, playing on horrible Quakes teams, his scoring slump that carried over from last season to this one, Chris Wondolowski scored 4 times against the Chicago Fire and is now king of MLS at 148 goals and the leagues all time leading goal scorer! When you look at all the superstars , foreigners and other American based players with bigger resumes who came and went, what Wondo has accomplished is next to amazing. His story is simply incredible!

    Great job Wondo!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! NHL players go back to back, in different cities, sometimes night game/afternoon game on weekends. They’re exerting themselves just as much over a longer period of time. Just because they get a charter flight leaving at 11pm and they check in to the hotel at god knows what hour doesn’t mean they aren’t as affected (or more) by the travel. Sure, after 20 years MLS could make some better steps on this front, but charter flights won’t improve it much and scheduling logistiscs affect every league in the USA. It’s not like every team in the league is in a footprint the size of Texas or smaller. There’s not ten teams based within a 30 mile radius of one city. Travel happens in MLS. Unless you contract teams or not play every team every season, this is going to happen.

    TL;DR:
It’s an issue, but not as big as some people make it out to be.

    Thx,

    Jay!

I agree, but it could be much better. Atlanta plays 8 games in 4 weeks and then has 2+ weeks off. Their current road trip is Vancouver, NJ, then Salt Lake. That's just stupid. Especially in our case - Atlanta plays the Cascadian clubs either all at home or all on the road. If they're gonna double or triple up on a road trip just make it those three teams right there.

NHL and NBA excels at this, having trips cover teams within the same region to minimize travel. MLS travel isn't extreme but it could be coordinated better.
