Sky Italia is reporting that we have agreed to personal terms with Bonucci (€6 mil a year; 5 year deal). Now just comes the hard part of hammering out a sale price with Juve. Looks like MDS and Bonucci will be separate deals Juve offering €10 mil for MDS, we want €15. Rumors on Bunocci's price, we want to play close to €30 mil and Juve want something closer to €40 mil.
40M for a 30 year old? man, i don't know about this. it seems to go against the plan of rebuilding with younger players. bonucci is great. don't get me wrong. but he's not somone like romagnoli who we can build around for the next decade.
Normally I would totally agree but when you are getting arguably a top 3 CB in the world it's the cost of doing business. Plus there are not many players that will be a better example for Romagnoli than Bonucci. Also don't forget as much as some of their more hysterical fans on twitter will say this is not the case; you are taking something important from a direct rival.
Di Marzio for Sky Italy reporting deal for Biglia is done. €17 mil+bonuses. #Calciomercato | Il #Milan ha chiuso per Lucas #Biglia dalla #Lazio https://t.co/Zht92UhBFh— Gianluca Di Marzio (@DiMarzio) July 13, 2017
It is looking like Bonucci will go though for €40mil. If nothing changes and it gets done what should our expectation for this season be? I would say Champions League or bust.
Must have something to do with them returning the favor for us taking Matri for €15m then giving him back to them. He is someone that Romagnoli can learn a great deal from though.
qualifying for the CL is the goal that montella et al have already given for the season. with italy having 4 CL spots in 18/19, i'd say that's the minimum that we should expect. hopefully we challenge for the scudetto, but we'll see how long it takes for all these new recruits to gel. i'd also like to see a deep run in the EL. it will depend on the draw once we get into the KOs, but quarters or semis at least should be doable with the money we're spending this summer.
this is true. an espnfc article listed the prices other clubs have paid for defenders this summer. granted, most of them paid the EPL tax, but the list made bonucci for 40M look like a great piece of business, even if he is 30 already.
Defenders can easily play for longer. Besides it's not like we won't buy other defenders in 2-3 years time. Bonucci easily has 5 years left on him
News outlets are linking us to Auba, Sanches, and Belotti right now. Even if it is all nonsense it is nice to be linked to talented exciting players and not free transfers. Also it would be real dumb to sell Locatelli right now.
It was the loans with option/obligation to buy that I miss. Seeing whether we'd trigger Aquilani's obligation clause was pure excitement to me.
Leonardo Bonucci is a good player and all but it all seems exaggerated for a 30 year old defender. I'm sure he has maybe 2-3 years left in the tank though.....
Can he adjust to conceding the occasional penalty kick...? He's been Juve a long time... And hasn't gotten a straight red in six seasons...
