Would section 107 at CAT II season ticket prices (gameday group prices for individual tickets) be too ambitious? Another alternative would be to get section 104 for the Riders STH's and get the Revs to make secs 101-103 general admission/standing. They'd have to do some shuffling of the seating configurations. Both ideas couldn't be implemented until 2009, though.
Would they be willing to move the current people that have those seats? I can see the people that have sat in those seats since game one at the stadium not being too willing to give them up, especially those right in the first couple of rows.
Obviously one of the hurdles. However, I doubt there's too many people longtime STH's who choose section 107 in CAT I when they can move a section to the right for much less or are offered better seats in CAT I on a seniority basis. The section suggestion I made would take some serious seat jumbling and that could upset more than a few people.
I think 107 would be out. There's no way they'd want us standing and ruining the view of the people that are sitting at midfield. The idea of 104 is at least a bit feasible.
Lets be honest and realistic here, as much as I would like to see this happen, I see no chance of the fort ever moving until we get our wonderful own SSS in the not to near future.
I do see one in the future, just not very soon, not very nice, and with a lot of kicking and screaming and tug of war between Garber and Kraft.
There is no way Kraft will build a SSS unless it is to his benefit. No way. I'm hoping he someday decides to divest his ownership in the Revs to a point where a new majority owner is willing to risk capital on one. His money and business sense is an asset. However, his helmsmanship is devoid of positive tacking.
I'm sure there is a SSS thread or two we can this conversation in. Anyways, any other ideas people are willing to go public with?
something that has been said before, but i think is needed, is a megaphone, or even a big cone like i saw around at the MLS Cup. even they worked really well.
I'll talk to a couple of my friends out there. The issue with them though is they were only averaging something less than 10k for many of their games, and they allow people to sit on both sides of the field, so there's a ton more open seating. Definitely something we need to work on and get in the hands of the chant leaders (Ed, myself, Seamus etc).
Hmm suggestions to improve The Fort. Well here are a few.. 1) Some of the songs are just kinda done at random.. But whenever there is a corner kick everyone gets on the same page. If we can coordinate more of the chants and songs to be in tune with the happenings on the field or a specific time durring the match that might solve some of the issues with getting everone on the same page and at the same time.. For example TFC fans chant for Dichio on the 23rd minute of every game. So regardless of who they are playing every game the 23rd minute is for the Danny Dichio chant. Also one thing that kinda gets drowned out is the "Stand UP!" chant at the end of the game.. Last season I sat in the midfield for some of the matches and you could hardly tell what was being asked. If we could hang some sort of banner off the side of the Fort, where the tunnel is, with that then people might take notice. Also why not another section on the other side of the field? Sometimes (esp on windy nights) you can't hear the riders chants or they are very feint. If we got another section (Even if it's a GA section) on the other side of the field. Given the stadium doesn't have a roof so the sound kinda gets lost, but if we are able to get both sides and manage a coordination of chants then we would catch the other section in between and add to the atmosphere.. Also it would help with crowding issue that the Fort is having..
I like your first point. Don't care about the second, and the third wouldn't work because no one would want to be in the "Fort Junior." First idea is definately something that can be done, and ran with.
Or a group of supporters that actual give quality voice. No need for a megaphone when you have voice.
Such a group already exists. It is getting everyone on the same page that has proven to be the challenge.
Also use your resources... All of you have scarfs and voiceboxes. USe them together. Put the scarfs in the air in a group and chant away before, during and after the match. Its not re-inventing the wheel. Start with easy chants if you think more people will get behind it. I.E: 1. New, New New England New, New New England 2. We love new england we do we love new england we do We love new england we do Oh...new england we love you 3. WE ARE NEW ENGLAND WE ARE NEW ENGLAND 4. Revolution til i die revolution til i die I know i am, i'm sure i am Revolution til i die. 5. (at opposing team/supporters) Who the hell who the hell who hell the are you? (replace hell with ******** if you like ) Those are some simple and way to get everyone together. Agreed?
Actually i have mate. But you don't have to go to a match. You can just sit on this site and read some threads that things don't seem to work out as some would like. Carry on. I'm done. Cheers.
Unfortunately on our end, we've probably got about 300-400 people who'd like to actually sing. It was higher for the playoff games, which was great, but other than that ... the crowd's more into watching than supporting.
I'm not saying we don't need help, I mean we've already got a bunch of songs, some of which you posted lyrics for. That's what I meant when I said "we're way ahead of you." The songs are not the issue.
