Once again Poch has left a fit Toby Alderweireld out of the match day squad. This can only mean one thing: the Belgian is out the door this summer. I just hope we don't end up selling him to one of our rivals. It looks like a classic power struggle and I can understand both sides' point of view. Daniel Levy has a wage structure to maintain and the player knows he can make way more money elsewhere. He also knows that Spurs have announced record revenues AND that the chairman is making 6 million pounds a year, more than any of the players.
I believe something like £3.Xm of the £6m was a one-time bonus for getting the new stadium constructed. His usual compensation package is in the mid £2m
Don't think it's a big issue, it's more the media searching for a story. It's 115 000 a week, same as our top players and most likely Pochettino will be close to it too. Can't see the players and agent having a case against our two leaders earning as much as the best paid players. It's not like Levy is on the kind of money that it's said Alderweireld is after. Toby's made up his mind already, long before the annual financial report was released. Easy to also forget that Levy is part owner of the club, and like the players he could earn more doing other business - Levy's big pay day will come the day the club is sold.
Yeah Levy's pay is neither here nor there and if Toby has any sense he will only be comparing to other players. Signs have been there for a month or more now, I'm resigned to him leaving. Club is bigger than any player. I'm fully expecting some regression to the mean today, after a fantastic win last week. Still, expecting a win , maybe 1-0 courtesy of Son. Hope there are no injuries. PSA: not on TV unless you have NBC gold.
Thanks! I’d given up even checking Gold as it seemed it was only ever Brighton v Huddersfield type games.
Glad this the crazy weekend for me, and not last weekend. Still, I expect a victory for Spurs with the machine back in the lineup.
this summer, I really hope aurier figures out the poch way of playing, because on balance, he's been pretty dreadful this season
He's a fair amount of Walker, though seems like he is willing to work with Poch more. And if the late match goes Spurs way, 2 behind ManU with a game in hand.
Looking all but done. Will be interesting to see how City end the season now. They’ve not got much to play for in terms of league accomplishments.
The only one which matters is next weekend and the CL, if they manage. Expect a huge fight on Tuesday.
I can't figure out this United side. Look like shit most of the time, but the table don't lie. Liverpool have the special sauce in Europe and look like they will eliminate City from CL. So they will come to Wembley next weekend with a massive point to prove, though they cannot clinch the title even with a win. As for us, very encouraging to win ugly today. Very un-Spursy. By all accounts Stoke fought hard, as you'd expect facing relegation.
Game was televised live here in Canada. Stoke came to play and didn't just sit back, which made for an entertaining game. Kane looked sluggish, it may have been too early for him to come back. Don't know what is going on with Lloris, he has made a number of blunders this season. Dele has that knack of slowing the game down and picking the perfect pass. If you watch one of the replays, you can see him checking back to see where Eriksen is, even when it doesn't appear he is an obvious option for a pass. And with Liverpool and Chelski dropping points, a good weekend for us.
When we first signed him and there were highlight videos circulating, I remember being most impressed with his passing. The goal scoring is nice, too, of course.
