If there is a pub/restaurant that would be good place to put that stuff too. In the reception area by host stand or some such.
Just heard a Planet Money podcast about Atlanta dropping the price of concessions at the Mercedes Benz stadium. They dropped them to "street prices." Arthur Blank wanted to improve the fan experience. Good read (or listen) on how to do that with a new stadium. https://www.npr.org/templates/transcript/transcript.php?storyId=665396446
People will buy more if prices aren't insane. Here's a photo from the club level at Nationwide. Now, granted, it's alcohol, so it's going to be more expensive, but still.
The only time I buy beer at a game is if there's a special deal. Otherwise, not. I used to buy food at Nationwide, but not sure I will do that going forward--at one point their food options were not that far off what you would pay at a restaurant (drinks excepted) and the food was pretty good (at one time they had a prime rib sandwich on the concourse for $13). But I bought a burger this year, and it seemed to be a fair bit smaller than last year. There are lots of other options in the area.
Therein lies some of the issue. People are sick of hot dogs and nachos and want more. They want something decadent. Unfortunately, they don't want to pay $15 for a thin slice of prime rib au jus and $9 for a tiny serving of wine while they take in the local pro sport.
I'm not fancy. But I'd like a burger bigger than a Wendy's Junior for $12. It was last year. This year? Not so much.
I would like a statue of Kirk Urso along with Lamar. I went to Orlando's stadium and I loved that food and beer were included (club seats0, they had 3 buffets and full bar with Coors and Bud Light just show your wrist band you get your beer. They even had a full grab and go fridge filled with Coke water etc. A Supporter Only's Bar(Season Ticket holder), I think that Sporting has something like that were you have to show your membership to get in.
If we put up a statue of a player it should be Guille. Urso's death was tragic but he wasn't a difference maker on the field.
They could start by bringing back the $5 beer happy hour in the Nordecke from the minute the gates open to 30 minutes before kickoff. That was awesome that one year.
Also check out the concession selections and prices here: http://www.cbhospitality.com/concessions/ Some of this stuff looks yummy. https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2017/08/cleveland_browns_food_experien.html
What's the cheapest small beer available at Mapfre? I know they sling those 20oz Bud cans for $10. Is a 12oz Landgrant the cheapest thing you can get? That a 20oz beer for a Washington Football Team game is a buck cheaper than one at Mapfre tells you a lot. I get that having beer be pricey keeps binge drinking down and that everyone is super paranoid about being liable for accidents when something tragic happens. I expect to pay captive audience prices. I'd rather pay a tad less for tickets and have concessions be higher than the opposite. At least for me, I do my eating and drinking beforehand most times. But it seems our current situation is out of balance. Pricey tickets, exorbitant food and drink prices and expensive parking.
This chart would be much more useful if everything was trued up to the same portion size, or graphed as price per oz.
I got a draft on the concourse at the playoff game. I think it was 16oz and it was $11 plus I always tip a buck.
Thursday night, I happened to be driving by Nationwide as the CBJ game was going on. I saw a sign advertising $15 parking. In a garage. With a (partial? full?) protective skin, not that it probably matters too much, but still. Right across Nationwide Blvd. Raising it to $15 "because OSU and CBJ did so" was reprensible. $15 for VIP, sure...but $15 for the general public? Boo!
Where is this $5 beer being sold at Paul Brown Stadium? Last few games I've been to it has been at least double that.
