So much positivity around the club right now. CDT must be melting.

Pallotta: Don’t worry it has nothing to do with the club and will not affect the stadium.

I wish I was as optimistic.

Just saw it on Rai...Mayor Raggi said she will have to side with the legal findings. Everything could be on hold for years and I doubt this thing will ever get built.

This could also stop the mercato because the stadium is intrinsically connected with Pallotta's ownership. He will sell the club if he cannot build it.

It could be true. I'm sure there is a lot of corruption that Pallotta wouldn't know much about. It is Italy after all and I don't think James either speaks reads or understands Italian.

I always tried to have hope but rationally I didn't think it would happen. Now, I have little hope. This is why nothing gets done in Italy

Seeing how logn it took us in Florence, I'll be surprised if this thing will happen. I'm betting the USA or Italy for that matter will win another WC before they start construction.

Problem is, when construction starts in Italy, they are all like kids on Xmas morning. Everyone from the impese edile, falegname, muratori , avvocati, geometri , catastali not to mention the organized crime folks and politicians mall wants in on the action. I went on saying this many times in this thread. It was inevitbale.

Everyone wants a piece of the pie.

What is the chance that Pallotta would say this without any confirmation? It could just be him bullshitting I guess.

Pallotta has never tried to build anything in Italy, but it's not like he's unfamiliar with all the red tape that comes with owning a sports franchise. I guess we'll just have to wait it out.

Edit: Didn't see that Parnasi (!) was arrested. Yeah, I'd say the stadium is done.

Pallotta already said he will sell the club if there are any more delays.

exactly. One thing that always bugs me about the culture is that they feel that is somebody is making money and that deal doesn't impact them at all, they are being cheated and deserve something.

I remember when my dad wanted to renovate the bathroom in our house there it took years. Every summer we'd go over there he'd bring soccer balls, American jeans (very popular there in the '70s), cigs, etc to give to neighbors, the mayor.. just so people felt they weren't being "cheated" cuz he wanted to fix up our bathroom.

Fernando Magliaro@FMagliaro (Il Tempo jounalist, probably most reliable media source on the new stadium project).
To all those who write to me asking for news on what will happen to the project #Stadiodellaroma:
    1) approval process must freeze, it is the anti-corruption rules
    2) if you recover it will certainly not be soon

    3) must be appointed as a court trustee
    4) it is necessary to ascertain the correctness of the procedure

Based on what he has said before, Pallotta will likely withdraw the project and put the club up for sale when the approval process is halted.

It will be ridiculous if we are punished at all for this just for being their clients. But I guess that's Italy.

I was wondering what will happen to our sponsorships when the stadium procedure is halted for the corruption allegations? There might be clauses which give the sponsor the opportunity to cancel in such circumstances.

Lol Java is having a blast with the negative news [emoji23]

Have some faith, hopefully the situation will be resolved and the project will continue. Pallotta didn’t get so far only to give up in the end.

I doubt the club will be punished in terms of points or relegation. I mean they could but I doubt it.

Sorry, like I said I have a little experience with how the Italian system (doesn't) work. It's taken how many years to get "approval".

If Raggi gets thrown out of office then this whole mess will start over. I'm telling you, there is great resentment in Italy for a foreigner coming in and trying to change things. They distrust him and they don't like him.

@falvo and I have been saying since the beginning that this was always a long shot. Unless you have experienced how things run in Italy you really can't explain it.

I want to have this optimism, but things don't sound good.

It is weird that Tacopina doesn't have these sort of issues running Venezia. It could be that such a big project is a magnet for corruption.
