oh my, no - though he did do the South Stand there. either Villa's old Trinity Road Stand or the South Stand at Ibrox are his best. The Stevenage Road Stand at Fulham tops the East Stand for my money, as well. But those first two are (were, in Villa's case) brilliant - far better than any of Leitch's work at Spurs.
just had a slow-mo look at their's ... it's a Vertonghen own-goal. Rooney barely gets a touch and hardly alters the cross, and it's directly onto Verts' foot for the OG. you can't tell from the angle looking at the cross going away, but the angle with the cross coming in shows it quite clearly. bbc and espn still show it for Rooney, but it won't stand if the goals committee (or whatever they're called) do their job.
Yeah, I noticed that too. Bad luck for Vert/Spurs. And if the goal committee does their thing, it will be a Spurs player who scored the last goal at WHL.
It was just the rainbow either it was the entire thing, rain as the old players made their way to the halfway stripe, sun breaking through at the crescendo of “Glory, glory” and a rainbow as the players took a victory lap. If you saw that in a movie you’d roll your eyes at how ham-fisted the director was being pushing the point home. It was remarkable. Didn’t think I’d get emotional, never made it to WHL (ironically I will have seen more Spurs games at Highbury and in the States), but got a little misty there at the end.
I've been a long time gone, about 30 years. Too long. Last 20 in the States, and those frantic, over-scheduled trips home to visit family never quite allowed a visit to the Lane. In fact I was only really a regular visitor for a few years in the mid 80's... standing in those pre-Hillsborough days below the Shelf. Sometimes getting in for the boy's price. Never a need to get a ticket in advance - even for the Tony Parks UEFA final. When the new place is built I will finally get there again, but I'm sure, as the mighty pook said, it will never be the same.
Well worth looking through the Guardian's entire photo set. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...am-last-matchday-spurs-in-pictures?CMP=twt_gu
Great way to wrap up life at the Lane! Tired of listening to Mourinho moan about the number of games, etc. Still concerned about RB. If Walker goes, we need a viable replacement, Trippier was absolutely skinned by Martial on the United goal, which brought back nightmare memories of the CL tie at Monaco.
I wonder if Mourinho expects the number of games to drop next year if they win the EL and end up in CL? its not like he's never managed in the PL before... *shakes head* the guy sure loves his excuses
Yes, if they qualify, they will go in the qualifying rounds, so he will complain that the other teams have an advantage! I sooooooooo hope Ajax beat them!
Checked the Man U feed, they were mostly trying to downplay the significance of the game for them - I guess we should take that as a compliment, as they used to brag about how soft a touch we were for them. The other theme that came acoss was how unhappy they are with the style of football José plays. A lot of them wanted him to have a proper go since the game didn't really matter for them. Certainly Sir Alex would never have set up his team like that. I remember his last game in charge at United was a 5-5 draw at the Hawthorns! I guess it shows we lucked out to get Poch, when we might have ended up with a David Moyes or a Louis van Gaal...
Utd have been like that all season. unless he has the very top 1% of best players, Mou won't come out and play
