Why? Is there any less excitement from the stands? At the moment, the final day celebrations are off because of the pitch invasion.
I went onto the field at old Bush Stadium in Indianapolis a couple times. both were awesome. once was when the Indians won the AAA American Association Championship series in 1988. to be fair, we weren't holding up a ceremony, and the players were out there celebrating with us instead of trying to make their way back to the locker room as quickly as possible. but it was great fun. the other was the last game at the old ballpark (which was fooking fantastic, I can tell you). I got an old metal plate number "1" from the old manually operated scoreboard (which still has a prominent place in my study). childish, perhaps, (and hey, everyboday else was doing it!) but a great time and great memory. I hope they get the pitch cleared off quickly so they can get to the ceremony. but if i'm honest ... if I were at the Lane today, I'd've been out there, as well. ... of course, it might not be quite as fun without Razor Shines out there, to be fair.
alright ... i'm going to enjoy the ceremonies, and the film's off to a good start. but no way is the East Stand Archibald Leitch's greatest creation.
