except that all of those non-Spurs-related accomplishments mean nothing.

Bale and Modders may tell you that their Champions League medals mean something; but they'll be lying to you.

and if they actually believe it, they're lying to themselves.

Now they're saying Son is going to represent South Korea at the Asian Games in August! WTF? That means he will probably miss the first month and a half of the season. Two major tournaments in one summer? Ridiculous.

There was an article about Son and his required military service which he hasn’t don’t yet and will be required to do in the next few years. If South Korea won the Asian Games he would likely get an exemption from service as has happened in the past.

Different, older article, but the gist of the issue is here.

In addition to the military service issue, there's a chance that if we release him for the Asian Games that a secret handshake can be arranged where Korea doesn't pick him for the Asian Cup.

if there's one fella I don't trust to keep a handshake secret, it's Heung Min Son.

I had 100 degrees where I live and the cable kept going out. Doesn't sound like I missed much. Eriksen is our 2nd player coming home.

Apologies for stating France were playing Denmark up above, it must have been PTSD from their group game.

An ex player I missed was Fazio who played vs. France with his signature skills [emoji19]

What was that twat Adams saying about the mentality of the Spurs players?

However, would like to see the refs start to book players for all the nonsense that goes on after a pen is awarded. Every time it takes 3 to 4 minutes from when the pen is awarded to the actual kick. Start with the goalkeeper - if he comes off his line for any reason, give him a yellow. Then pull out one of the outfield players that's having a moan and book him. That would stop it.

Makes it even sweeter the Colombian goalkeeper is an Arsenal player. I mean goal keepers aren’t to blame for a PK loss, but still.

I do hope Pochettino is watching. Trippier once again had a very good game. Walker seems to have regressed to the point in his career when he made careless and often very costly mistakes. Maybe it’s playing out of position, maybe he needs Pochettino riding him to keep up his concentration.

A comparison, if I've done my quick counting correctly:

Spurs had 12 players in the World Cup, of which 11 advanced to the knockouts, of which 9 advanced to the round of 8.
Arsenal had 7 players in the World Cup, of which only 4 advanced to the knockouts, of which only 1 is in the round of 8.

Granted, a lot of Spurs are on the England squad that just barely advanced, but that would not change the fundamental trend. In fact, if England had not advanced, Spurs would have 5 players in the round of 8 compared to Arsenal's 1 (Colombia had one Spur and one Gooner).

How about the Colombians who were putting divots in the ground around the penalty spot in advance of the kick?
