This was just priceless :D And totally on the money, when I first suggested the We'll meet Again I was never in doubt that the odds were against it being something easy to pull off ... and yes the Vindaloo/BBQ song, which is a stock anthemic football tune that spread like wildfire gets strange looks when you drop it on people. I figure if we can't get what is basically a one word song going we're going to struggle with an wartime classic.

Face it, you'll never walk alone only happened because the Liverpool club DJ played it over the PA before games...

    Westport Pub Crawl.

And this song would probably be one that would do better w/it being played over the PA. The slow pace & pauses between stanzas would be easier w/the real thing playing at the same time. When you sing this song too fast it sounds like vaudeville.

A pub crawl is a great idea.

This one was passed on by Zach Cobb, and a few people heard it before the game Saturday.

Lyrics can change for every game but imagine it would be something like this most times

    Oh who drinks the beer?
    Oh who drinks the beer?
Oh who drinks the beer the people say.

    Why, we drink the beer!
    Why, we drink the beer!
    S-P-O-R-T-I-NN-G!

    Oh who hates D C?
    etc

The tune is catchy and simple. It seemed that most people picked it up pretty closely the in the first test run.

    Was the double N intentional?

Yeah you hold the N out for an extra beat to make sure it fits the rhythm.

also everybody b4 I crash tonight, What about during goal kicks instead of the cacophony that we do right now, how bout we change it to a unified "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" (wiggle fingers) "This Is Sporting, ah-ew, ah-ew, ah-ew" .

We have been looking for a time to use that solid ,yet simple, chant for awhile and haven't found a spot for it yet. Make it a situational chant. One that happens many times during the game and it will catch on like "shots" guaranteed.

Jeff & Co., the "we want playoffs" should now be amended to "We Want Finals"

I believe that "We Want the Cup, Gotta Have the Cup" does that perfectly.

Yeah when the team came over at the end of the game - that's what we were singing.

BBQ finally happened in a game - it went pretty well.

This one also went really well

We weren't scorin' goals, til we got Kei
We weren't havin' fun, til we got Kei
Now we're top of the East, and I know whyyyy
    Hey Hey
Cuz we got Kei, Cuz we got Kei, Cuz we got Keiii
Da da da da da da (repeat)

It barely beat out the Michael Jackson Human Nature one
    Kei, Kei
Tell him that he's Kei Kamara
    Kei Kei
He just do it that way

For Zusi, we just started a "slow clap" w/ ZEUS ZEUS ZEUS ZEUS - it sounded great. It really carried.

Yep, it worked out great too. BBQ felt awkward at times but the Kei song worked out wonderfully.

For consideration under the 'really simple and would sound cool if a lot of people got into' category, we could use the Westminster Quaters (aka those chimes that churches do every hour/quater hour) as the tune to chant 'kansas city', and then count of with "goal!" for each "hour" "gong". Would really sound best in a high scoring game, but say we just scored our fourth goal it would be something like -

    Kan-sas Cit-y
    Kan-sas Cit-y
    Kan-sas Cit-Y
    Kan-sas Cit-Y

    Goal! Goal! Goal! Goal!

Of course we could just keep repeating goal until we got bored as well...

It's the England song "Vindaloo", substituting 'barbeque' for 'vindaloo'. Personally I think it's kind of ingenious, whoever came up with it. I guess the youtube time code doesn't work in BigSoccer, so skip to 2:06.

was working with this idea acouple months ago...
we need more players own songs when they score
instead of the over used clap clap clap clap clap name name name name

    KEI KA MAR RA
    JUST SCORED ON YA
    KEI KA MAR RA
    JUST SCORED ON YA.

to the tune of the church bells...slow...spaced out

The Because we got Kei I think works better. I don't think the slow stuff will really work well.

THIS, to the tune of Afro Man's "Because I got High." Brilliant at the pep rally. Someone was really doing some deep thinking on that ride to Colorado. Hmmmmm

Kei dancing to it tonight on stage at the P&L was a bonus. Id say he liked it.

I didn't see this searching this thread, but I think a song/chant that is short, simple and suitable would be the chorus from "Three Little Birds" after giving up a goal. No need to change the lyrics and most people are familiar with the tune.

Don't worry... about a thing. 'Cause every little thing... is gonna be alright.

We tried it at the end of games some, I think it's too slow for a post conceding chant

We could do it in pregame. It sounded great when we did at CAB.
