San José winning its first away game of the regular season?

Kansas City hindering the visitors of a spotless road record?

The Earthquakes returning home undefeated on the road? Sporting looking to send its adversary away disappointed?

    Discuss.

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

Playing the Sporks in Sporkland is always tough. Let's see how we - and they - look in the first matches.

    Go Quakes!!

Why is there a two week bye?

Because there are an odd number of teams in the league, so everyone is going to have a few bye weeks, ours come early, which given we are still a work in progress may not be a bad thing.

at least it won't be hot and humid.....beats playing them in KC in July or August...

40% chance of showers...a high Saturday of 65 with a low of 46....

This will be a better test of how far the team has come than the MUFC game... I hope the Quintana is able to play in the middle, the defense looked much better with him on the pitch than it did when he had to leave.

The extra week will give Quintana more time to recover. Great time of year to visit KC if anyone wants to go to the game.

Does anyone know his injury? He looked to have a sprained ankle, but it didn't look serious.

I think I was posting to the in-game when he was hurt. I didn't even realize anything had happened until he was subbed off, and other members of my party missed it too.

Isn't there a law against texting while watching soccer? :)

OK, the Sporks lost 2 - 0 at home, against NyckF#ck the first week. They are away to Chitcago this week, then home against us. We'll see how they do against the LanternKickers.

Our guys will need to be more focused against the Sporks, and we'll need to retain the offensive sharpness that we showed against the Loons. I expect our defense to tighten-up as the season develops. We'll get better.

I just don't want that defensive improvement to be at the expense of our offense.

    Go Quakes!!

Unless Quintana is good to go on St. Paddy's day, I would expect to see Flo at CB (with Yueill at CM), so I think we're gonna be OK defensively. Our memories are so short! ;)

If the Quakes can generate offense and score as they have been doing thus far, I like their chances.

Highly doubt we'll see Yueill. Likely Alashe for Flo at DM.

It's moot. Quintana's going to start. It'll be the same lineup.

Affolter also wouldn't still have the flu and can play CB.

According to Steve Ralston the Quakes were doing Dallas a favor for the CCL calendar; and that since Dallas was eliminated the Quakes' gesture now turns out to have been for nothing.

That seems like a poor decision on the part of the Quakes. 2 weeks between your 1st and 2nd games of the season seems like it puts you a week behind in getting your fitness and soccer brain back up to speed

I agree. I’ve seen national team breaks for the entire league but not for one club in an international tournament. Seems like someone didn’t think the thing through....

I believe we accommodated Montreal a fews year back when they were in the tournament. Other teams have done it as well. Nothing new here.
