what are the other ones that havent been approved other than monterrey's didnt think their was a bunch arena indios, i dont think its been approved right? Tijuana is like halfway done but looks like they've stopped idk why...a lot of work to be done btw for WC purposes....most of the stadiums MLS is bulding is under the 35K am i right?
I had heard that both Monterrey's and Indios' stadiums hadn't been approved, but that was a long time ago and I haven't heard any news about any of the two stadiums lately. I remember there was talk about Cruz Azul probably building a new stadium also, but nothing came of that. I'll believe it when I see some movement on the planned sites.
So stadiums under construction: Nuevo Estadio Corona (opening this year) Estadio Chivas (opening next year) Everything else is not 100% done deal yet?
The World Cup if hosted by the US would never be played in MLS stadiums, they are too small (capacity wise). The games would be played in the newer football stadiums like these (all are up to Fifa field dimension standard, unlike the older demolished football stadiums): [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc8yZCYOeVM&feature=channel_page"]YouTube - USA World Cup Bid 2018 2022 Preview[/ame]
well the reason i say this is because Blatter told a reporter in an interview later last year that his problem with american stadiums is that they were "too" big for soccer and did not have a soccer feel or look to them. In the same interview he was saying that anything above 45K was too much..i odnt agree but watever, i would think theyd want more seats cause it wopuld earn them more money but again they would have to spend way more with security and other stuff...

If Blatter said that, he was talking out his a** even more that usual. For a world cup, all stadiums must have a capacity greater than 40,000, with at least one with a capacity greater than 80,000. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601081&sid=asPqyOdTnT_w&refer=australia
Its weird looking at American football stadiums with a football pitch, you can tell that something just isn't the same. I can't quite put my finger on why they look different than the regular football grounds. Is is the shape of the stands that are are made to watch american football? Maybe its that some don't have roofs, which FIFA prefers.
Replace that with this newest and final rendering (the old one didn't make the cut). Kansas City Under Construction Renderings: http://www.thetrailskc.com/thetrails/ltypepg.cfm?gid=13&lname=RENDERINGS This will be part of a $1 billion construction project that will build hotels, shopping centers, homes etc...
thats actually really nice! looks like santos is doing something similar with the hotel and shopping center....not $1 billion though...seems ridicuouls..
From what I understand the area where the stadium is being built historically has been a very economically depressed area. This money is sorely needed to improve the area/general commerce.
You are thinking about Tec compadree And Yeah its really big in Monterrey I'd count about 50 High School public school teams and add another 8 prep school teams Add 5 College teams And about a couple hundred pop warner teams
Awesome thread! I've been curious about the building boom in Mexico... Doesn't Dallas get a TON of season ticket holders every year from Monterrey? And let me say that Monterrey has earned its reputation of being codos.
From what I heard yeah. My uncle and cousins are big cowboys fans. They get tickets quite often to watch them play.
I was not aware of that. The Steelers also have a pretty big Mexican fanbase. It doesn't compare to the Cowboys or Raiders, but pretty big nonetheless.
does anyone know if they FMF has submitted the bid if so is there anyway it was made public in which it states plans and such....
Yes. I'm not sure though if that means a full bid or just some basics and an official intention to host. They might still be working on the complete bid since FIFA won't decide until Dec. 2010. They are also hosting one of the youth WCs in 2011 I believe so some of the stadia would have to be upgraded.
