Where will people be able to watch Euro WCQs in Columbus on September 10? Mods, if you feel this is a useless thread I apologize. I thought with the amount of people visiting, daytime viewing is something that has been ignored.
Fado, I'm sure will be showing everything: http://www.fadoirishpub.com/columbus/sports Or maybe not, since it's not on their website yet. But in the past, they've shown qualifiers.
I would hope Fourth Street and Hendoc's would also show them, considering they're hosting the supporter parties.
Not sure this tiny thread justifies a necro-post, but the topic certainly seems relevant. Reuse, renew, recycle, I always say. Anyway, I saw this exchange in Twitter yesterday: we have a designated bar, but I’ll discuss this with the brass. thanks for the lookout!— Mia San Columbus (@FCBayernCBUS) January 9, 2020 One of the owners of the new German biergarten in town (Gemüt) reached out to the local Bayern Munich supporters group asking if they had any interest in watching matches at the pub. He posted: "Hey soccer folks, this season we're showing some EPL/Champion's League/ MLS/Bayern Munich games at Gemüt Biergarten. Def showing Crew games in the bier hall..." Seems the Mia San Columbus group watches matches at Fado. In any event, Gemüt sounds like a new place to take in Crew games this year. ------------------------------------------------------- I also saw this for all you Bundesliga fans (I'm looking at you @kgilbert78 though this doesn't include your team). A year or so ago I attended one of the watch parties sponsored by Schalke at Land Grant Brewing. Free breakfast, Schalke swag. It was a nice event. Anyway, they're doing it again, this time for the Bayern Munch-Schalke match on Jan. 25, and this time at Germania: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fc-sch...-munich-germania-columbus-tickets-88601488437 If you've not been to Germania Singing and Sport Society, it's a very cool, old school place. Been around since 1866. They do a terrific Oktoberfest. My son and I plan on being at this event.
I do actually own a Schalke Champions League training sweatshirt that came out of their locker room. I have no problem cheering for *anyone* against Bayern.
Re: the game on the 25th, it's certainly a better match-up than the previous Schalke event I attended. It's always a far more entertaining season in Germany when Bayern stumbles. Even my son, a die-hard Bayern fan, would agree with that.
It was built when they were on the verge of promotion to the Bundesliga--and probably had a lot of standing areas as opposed to seats. It would probably be around 15,000 as an all-seater. That's not unusual for teams which aspire to the Regionalliga (4th division). Many teams have stadia of that size from the post war era due to the way German soccer was organized then (no national league until 1964) and due to rebuilding. There are almost 100 stadia in Germany with capacities of at least 15,000. If you look a little further in the article, it's 70 years old and some of the stands are closed off as it is falling apart.
They were in the Bundesliga for three years in the early years - before Borussia Monchengladbach. Finished 10th after gaining promotion, then dropped, went back up and got relegated again never to grace the Bundesliga again....
I was going on the basis of the first champion, which was 1964. But, of course, the first season was 1963-1964. Interestingly enough there was an Ohio connection in that first season. Well known Bengals and Eagles player Horst Muehlmann was one of two goalies with the first shutout in the Bundesliga in Schalke's 2-0 win over Stuttgart (the other was Cologne over Saarbruecken by the same score). Bayern was the other team to get promoted with Gladbach. In that season, Gladbach beat Neunkirchen 10-0.
What are they doing about Klinsman not having the right coaching license? How could he not have a license to coach in the BL after coaching their national team?
Supposedly he has the paperwork, but it's somewhere in his house in California. Anyone that's had a house for any length of time gets this. The trick is that you have to update the license every so often with proof of classwork, etc. or it expires. I'm not a teacher, but it seems like the process is similar to that for teachers here.
