We're hoping to launch a new politics related site and we're looking for folks passionate about that to help get it off the ground! If you are interested, click on email me and drop me a line! Let's bring BigPundit.com back!

Huss hates this forum. He wants to outsource it in the biggest way.

I don't think it's the forum; I think it's us he hates. I could be wrong, though.

I think the only way any politics site you create will work is if you include the existing Politics section you have here in the site. No new registration, just let our existing profiles move seamlessly into the new site.

I guess the thing that makes this politics board different is that we're all soccer fans in some way...which kind of takes some of the venom out of the personal stuff.

A politics-only board sounds like mayhem.

That is a very good point, we all have a common interest which brought us here in the first place.

    Good point.

If our P&CE can be considered a bit nasty at times...

I would hate to see the other ones that exist out there.

I'd be careful with outsourcing... Huss'd better be ready for blood.

I'm interested to know from Huss the idea behind a separate site.

All you have to do is read the comments thread of your average internet news article to learn what a free-for-all of idiocy such a place would be.

I've tried other politics-only forums, but the level of 'debate' on all other boards I've found is even worse than I find here. Those boards tend to chase away the people I want to hear from.

At least on these boards, several people with various interesting views have stuck it out.

If Huss could come up with a board with interesting a honest debate, I'd be all for it. But I get the feeling that's not easy to do. Has anyone seen the comments sections of newspapers? Unreal.

    That's why it flopped, IMO.

The problem with politics on any message board, including this one, is the fact that people invite themselves into discussion, and are not invited.

Can you imagine any presidential debate where the audience and listeners could jump in to attack their opponent and defend their candidate at any point in the debate? Yeah, it would look a bit like P&CE.

In a message board, since anybody can contribute in nearly any way at any time, you can many times see a rational and intelligent discussion get drowned out by sideline attacks. And often, agreement leads to thinking an argument is rational, and disagreement can lead to an argument being ridiculous...which is one of the worst truth filters out there.

The problem isn't politics. The problem is the medium. The only reason why I enjoy it is because I'm a glutton for punishment. So is every single other person who posts here. Masochists, all of us.

Did the number of posts at bigpundit.com even reach a hundred?

It was way over that. I used to post there, so I have first hand knowledge.
But I don't like the idea of reviving BigPundit. This is a much better place for it.
