The ball from Gutierrez was beautiful. And I am strangely finding Shelton to be a solid addition to our attack. Wonder if he can produce with some minutes at striker. Weird question to be asking.
Yes. Him and Medranda have been out with injuries, as was Besler today. There were reportedly not serious, but keeping them out for precautionary reasons.
Nemeth just scored on us, but it looked offside. wasn't really covered though. [EDIT] Ok, just as I typed that, VAR called it back for Offside.
I watched a for a little bit, mostly after the starters subbed on in the 60th minute. Croizet looked bad.
When? I've now watched it twice and he looked a bit tired, like everyone, but his defensive pressure was good, his first touch was good and he had a couple nice one touch passes. He was strong on the ball. It is annoying that we have yet another left footed player who is looking to be played on the right. he skied a shot, but I think he only lost the ball once. For the most part he was forgotten over on the wing. Almost related: Who we don't plan on Kuzain up with SKC this year, do we? His pronunciation is annoyingly similar to Croizet
I didn't watch the whole game, and it was only one game, but I just wasn't impressed with Croizet at all. Lost the ball, was slow. He just didn't look like a difference maker at all. He looked like a middling Belgian league player who will struggle to dramatically impact an MLS team.
Croizet was brought in as the new No.10. Then SKC signed Gutierrez and he has been playing the No.10 in preseason. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
I really hope we didn't bring in two players, both expensive in our way of doing things, and plan to play them at the same position. Their histories show them to be different players.
They are different players, and virtually any manager should have no difficulty fitting them into the same midfield. We just have one of those coaches who makes you wonder if he can see how.
Just wondering if this is the general impression of Croizet. I've been impressed, but I think I tend to put on rose colored glasses early in the season. He looks strong on the ball to me, and I like his defensive pressure, his touch and his eye for a pass. But that may well just be what i want to see.
An observation from someone who isn’t a fan of KC One thing I've noticed about Croizet is that he doesn't move much away from the ball. Graham Zusi also noticed it on this (non)play. pic.twitter.com/KogxNIMUAk— Matthew Doyle (@MattDoyle76) February 24, 2018
First half vs Portland, Shelton goes out with an undetermined injury. Rubio comes in and does nothing. Zusi looks really rusty with bad passes and sketchy ball control. I like what I see out of Croizet so far and Felipe is going to be a welcome asset to the midfield. Still scratching my head over Russell. He is not much of a scoring threat so far, but has put in some great crosses. Not a bad shift against Portland’s best 11. 1-0 at the half.
Croizet just looks like he has no idea what to do on the wing. Zusi has looked sharper than I expected. Russell and Gutierrez waking up. And if Rubio could get like 5% sharper, he'd be a monster.
I think that's a bit harsh on that play. It makes sense to hold back into space a bit. he could have made that run but if Zusi had touched it back???
Exactly right. His decision making seems very deliberately slow right now. I think as he becomes more confident in his teammates he'll be playing things quicker. I mean, I have to hope. If he stays at this speed of thought, he's not gonna see much field..
I found the Portland game disheartening. I thought Croizet and Russell and Felipe all worked well enough. Thjey will benefit from time with the team and improve, but they looked good in spots. I thought RE was getting back to his better self, and Ilie was Ilie and for the first half the defense was good. I thought Lobato showed that he can really add something from the LB position. But FFS, I'd hoped that we didn't really need a new 9 as much as i had remembered needing a new 9 last season. Sigh. We had half a dozen dangerous moments that died meek deaths when the ball came into the center. Maybe it was Rubio, i know he was at the heart o a couple sad moments, good balls that a very slow man will never reach. And a least we forced some good saves. That was a side that can dominate the ball, and somehow not score. And that tune is really getting depressing.
OKay, this is failing a lot, two edits to make a bad gif joke. It's supposed to be The Dread Pirate Roberts saying get used to disappointment. sigh
I’m back out here in Scottsdale for a while so I will try to get a look at the new players on the roster and see who they bring in on trial. The practices and games are closed, but they usually let me in to watch.
I remember a time on this forum when people talked a lot and anticipated the new kit coming out. I guess its not a thing any more. I really don’t care about the hype involved in the unveiling, but I hope they just get rid of the dumb button down collars.
