and he's headed out according to kicker. Hertha want to thin out their squad and he along with another 2 players are on the chopping block in Winter and customers are being sought out for all 3. Would guess if he stays in Germany will likely end up in 2BL.

I'm not surprised at all by this tbh. It's for the best, a soon to be 22 year old still playing RL, that's not career progress.

according to reports, Hertha's 34 man squad needs axing and Klinsmann wants to axe 10 players. Friede is on the strike list, although it doesn't say if it's loan or permanent out.

He only played due to Aigner being unfit
After Stefan Aigner waved off due to injury. “On Friday, his problems in the back broke out again. Unfortunately, the pain radiates into the adductors, ”explained Rehm. It is unclear whether veteran Aigner will be available in the home game against Greuther Fürth on Friday. The head coach was satisfied with the debut of Friede: "He was right in there, played three or four good balls." Friede presented exemplary for Tobias Schwede in the twelfth minute - but the team-mate forgave lightly. “All in all, of course, Sidney has to be even more robust, especially on the defensive. He still has to get used to this league, that's clear. "

he was deployed on AM instead of CM.
Friede, felt “very comfortable in the tens position. I'm not one who gets too excited. I approached the game like everyone else ”. The reason that Rehm brought Phillip Tietz for peace after 67 minutes was mainly due to the fact that the coach wanted to set new impulses after the deficit. It cannot be ruled out that Friede in the relegation battle will often be in the starting eleven in the future. The 21-year-old has recommended himself for other tasks. And hinted that he can certainly be an asset with his enthusiasm and creativity.

was left out today from the squad due to bruise in a 6-2 win vs Osnabruck. I don't expect him to play much for rest of the season. Unlikely to change their XI after such a big win.

The win moves Wehen to playoff spot, they could still get out. Wonder if they extend with him if they survive in 2BL and gets more chances next season?

I don't think there was ever an official site confirming he was US-eligible. Even Transfermarkt does not have it. Only the word of USA Prospects (a reliable source, to be fair). However, he's added the US and Nigeria emojis to his Instagram bio, so realistically confirmation he's eligible for Germany, US, Nigeria. Probably not good enough for any of the three at this point, but we know he is US-eligible.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I've talked with a few players over the years who thought they were U.S. eligible, but actually weren't (Shawn Kauter, Herbert Robinson García, Danny Potts, and probably a few others as well).

You can't really believe it until they actually HAVE the U.S. passport in hand.

Charlie Mulgrew once said that he would consider playing for the United States if Scotland kept ignoring him. He thought because he had an American grandparent, he was eligible. He wasn't.

Bradley Johnson kept bragging to the press he was eligible. US Soccer looked into it. He wasn't eligible either (for similar reasons)

also saw an article that said that he has no role to play for Wehen. Wonder what's next for him? 3rd Liga or leaving Germany?

Moves to Slovakian 1st division for 2 years. His club ended up 3rd place,so made ELQ and it makes sense the 1st team coach is German too. Not only a German coach but he's the one who brought Friede to Belgium like a year ago, same coach.
