In the long run, probably, but I don't think we actually know that yet. The natural spot we're all thinking is the Carrick role but I can't imagine that Jose will trust TFM with such a responsibility any time soon. And that's the dilemma, that TFM might be too good to be used as a fullback but no manager going for a CL trophy next season or the season after that would use TFM as a holding midfielder. Maybe when he's in his mid 20s, but not next season or the season after that. The boy needs to play. But where?
And that's even before touching on the point that has been made again and again, and probably one of the reasons we haven't seen more of Timmy at RB: he is way too undisciplined (at least by Jose's standards) to be a viable option there.
I can't see that happening. Jose isn't known for relying on teenagers. He's made an exception for Rashford but you make an exception for an exceptional young forward, not a midfielder or a defender.
He's refused to let him go out on loan, nor is he playing with the U23s. Which coupled with Schneiderlin's departure will provide some hope that he may get an opportunity at some point. Plus, it's the role his high energy and tendency to chase after the ball, would serve him very well.
With Schneiderlin sold, Schweinsteiger sidelined, Blind unfavoured and Fellaini used further forward to change games we lack central midfield depth. TFM should be getting games to spot Herrera as he adds the same harassing and ability to carry the ball forward. It would then allow Herrera to spot Carrick, though admittedly less than ideal. If TFM is not going to be used then he needs to be loaned out.
You do realize Timothy is only 19, right? Spotting Herrera is a massive ask of a player who has so little experience in the EPL and in light of such high stakes. I suppose there's no risk in letting him see FA Cup action but not in the EFL final and definitely not in EL cup play, in light of what I believe the necessity of winning the EL to return to the CL. I wish there were a better answer but the stakes are just too high to run TFM out in Herrera's role in an important league or cup match. Maybe when we've nailed down a top four spot in May or otherwise can afford to unleash the boy, but not before then.
hahhaahahah that's more a sign of the quality of this league more than anything. He has been dogshit, just like the rest of our regular performers this month.
that's like the us election. pick who you can tolerate most/hate least. no assists, no goals, no standout performances, maybe 1/2 clean sheets in the league?. says it all
2 clean sheets, one in the league, and an assist. val has been very good this year. especially the last few games he has appeared in.
The problem this season hasn't been Valencia. He's done well enough at RB although I would like to see Jose pursue an upgrade this summer as I don't see anything in Darmian's game that will help United take another step forward. But not as a top priority. We need reinforcements up front and it would be prudent to pursue a "Carrick replacement"
Even if it's "by default" due to the lack of production from other players, the solidity of Valencia's play can not be underestimated and as such, his PotM award is indeed thoroughly deserved.
Say what you will about Valencia being one-footed, limited, etc. but if more of our "stars" adopted his professionalism, we may have a couple more trophies in our cabinet. Focused, humble, consistent. I'll take that any day of the week. Here's to the V. 3,000: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-Valencia-rise-Manchester-United-stardom.html
Love the guy, but I'd love to see some independent confirmation of that crossing accuracy stat. Or what they determine as a "completed" cross. He is focused and hungry, and I will never begrudge him that. He took his talent and maximized it.
Yeah, they've got a statistic for everything these days. I don't really pay any mind to that sort of stuff, just what I see on the field.
