    maybe he really was stupid not to cover his corrupt tracks. i cant believe anything other than: something new happened in the investigation and he knew he would be exposed and/or hit harder if he stayed. there is no way he just decided to leave just like that, days after deciding to stand for re-election. or maybe he planned it from the beginning "i will show that i got re-elected yet i am such a humble and fair player that i will now step down, even after being re-elected" in the hopes of fixing his legacy somewhat.

    I was just talking to a colleague in my office. He simply can't do his job anymore as top figurehead / bribe-doler. He can't attend the opening of two of the major FIFA events this year: the Women's World Cup and the Gold Cup for fear of arrest. Probably can't attend Copa America in Chile either for the same reason.

    Plus, with the goods coming out on Valke this morning he had to know it would be soon. I won't be surprised if the Swiss authorities pick him up in the next few weeks anyhow.

    in related news, my phone is blowing up. the speaker might not survive the next half hour.

    I think Valcke is about to go down real hard, and he was too close to Sepp for them to pretend that he didn't have any knowledge anymore.

    Good. Should have done it before the election, but I guess his ego wanted to prove one last point.

    I guess this means a couple of others will put themselves forward now that it isn't all about forcing Sepp out.

    I am not so sure about that.

    With FBI scrutiny and other things swirling around it won't be easy for FIFA to do things business as usual.
    Real change may actually occur.

    The big question should be who is voted in now? Will it be Prince Ali?

    USA: supports dictator mubarak for decades. sees that there is no way he has a chance to stay anymore, says "we support the arab spring and free elections in egypt." free elections result in morsi. illegal coup happens. sisi takes over. US: sells billions of dollars of military equipment to sisi and recognizes his government as legitimate.

    blatter=morsi
    prince ali=sisi

    People are trying to sweep things under the rug as no big deal but it has to be said. Only a Country like the USA could make the most powerful person in sports run away like the roach he really is.

    you think the FBI cares about rooting out corruption? they were just hurt that the IRS did not get their cut. but have no fear... prince ali will ensure such a horrible injustice against the world will never happen again.
