well, i bowled them out and could've used more runs from Harris. Don't think I have enough to chase this one down. End of Over 4: 19-1, runrate=4.75, reqrunrate=5.02 (249-9) Hutchinson 2-0-9-0 Mapie* 4 (5 balls) Conroy 15 (17 balls) Last Wicket: Harris b. Lucas 0 (FOW: 5/1)
I'm in II in both OD and FC. come next season that won't be the case because I'll be going down in at least 1 of them.
no urgency whatsoever by my guys. End of Over 36: 153-3, runrate=4.25, reqrunrate=6.93 (249-9) Mason 8-0-37-0 Mapie* 56 (84 balls) Olivier 33 (44 balls) Last Wicket: Spearitt lbw b. Hutchinson 1 (FOW: 105/3)
I'm still a little confused about how I lost my last OD game vs. curzon cc. I'm not in immediate risk for not winning the series, as I have a nice NRR lead over them, but it's a little disconcerting. I'm still trying to work out which pitch type works the best with my squad. I'm trying green for a while, but the sunny-weather spinner results were not promising.
Me being an idiot, I left the follow-on turned on in my match in the first-day orders. Wouldn't you know, I managed to make my declaration target (either 400 or 420, I forget which) and then bowled them out in the first day, so it's a dead certainty that I'm only getting two days of gate for this home match.
forgot to raise my 2nd innings declaration today, so if i get it and then end up losing, it will suck. Down to my last two batsmen, so the odds of getting another 180ish runs are quite slim. should've moved it to 500 to insure a draw if I would've make it that high
With my win in FC---in two days but a somewhat tight match as both sides bowled well---I've now got a clear path to promotion. The only issue is going to be Hayabusa asking me to not use Sarge; Philly only asked me to mind his PFL, which I did, but I still liked having him as a fallback if other players didn't hold up. Regardless, I've got a little bit of breathing room at the moment, so I'll take the chance on it.
With ratings like this: Norse Athletic Club / Vodka Sandwhich Top Order: sensational / exquisite Middle Order: strong / mediocre Lower Order: abysmal / feeble Seam Bowling: superb / strong Spin Bowling: quality / competent Fielding: feeble / mediocre You wouldn't think that I would have only needed to chase 127-10 to win. (We did so, handily, winning by eight wickets.) I'll chalk that up on the positive side of the ledger against all my previous negative gripes.
ended up drawing my FC match, by liek 50 runs. whew crushed the opposition today by 300+ now to just figure out what I'm going to do against Serpents in FC next week and Batty Men in the ODer
things are going better this season, a game clear on top in OD. play 2nd & 3rd the next 2 games, want to win both so promotion is a bigger reality.
End of Over 6: 18-4, runrate=3.00 Coetzer 3-0-12-4 London* 6 (6 balls) Fowler 0 (2 balls) Last Wicket: Eyre c. Mapie b. Coetzer 2 (FOW: 18/4) Coetzer just got 3 wickets in the 6th over. got to keep the pressure on now!

so they got 300 runs after being 18/4. at least my first 3 batsmen have shown up... End of Over 34: 194-1, runrate=5.71, reqrunrate=6.69 (300-8) Dawson 7-1-26-1 Olivier* 90 (95 balls) Mapie 59 (70 balls) Last Wicket: Harris c. Fowler b. Dawson 42 (FOW: 81/1)
As long as you can keep it up for the next six overs, that target is eminently reachable. You should be able to get between 70 and 80 in the last 10 as long as you don't lose everyone. It was a good day for Norse, as we put the wood to Horatio's Howlers (200+ run win) at the same time as former series leader curzon cc was getting crushed by howzzat. One interesting observation from that match, howzzat changed up their bowling orders. They used to use openers through with Kepler and Hemmings---Kepler being the danger man with Hemmings picking up the leftovers. This time out, they ran B1 through, so Kepler still went ten at a stretch but Hemmings decamped after five overs. I don't think it changes strategy against them materially, as there's not much difference between Hemmings and the other three, but it could make the other guys all a little more effective.
yeah, they got close and after a long spell of singles (something like 19 from 20 balls) they started hammering 4s and I was able to win comfortably by 7 wickets. Put up a masterful top order as well! Of course I played GFI, but I can't wait for Ollie to pop a few more times in batting and concentration and to be sublime on pfl. Should be a force to reckon with
big game today, 1st (me) v 2nd (good team) @ my ground. a win & i am 2 games clear, a loss & i am 2nd due to NRR 5 of the big 6 are energetic / sublime, brough is only lively which sucks but featerstone & tindall can take up the bowling, while hopefully graham, scholtz & borrowdale all fire with the bat so he wont be required.
End of Over 7: 22-2, runrate=3.14 Brough 4-0-13-2 Allaway* 8 (14 balls) Martyn 0 (0 balls) Last Wicket: Brazier c. Tindall b. Brough 7 (FOW: 22/2) Brough on fire, removing his $19k p/w gun bat
End of Over 23: 89-3, runrate=3.87 Regis 2-0-12-0 Nevins* 21 (21 balls) Allaway 34 (56 balls) Last Wicket: Martyn b. Tindall 14 (FOW: 59/3) Want featerstone to strike here, need to remove 2 more to see the tail, and don’t want to be chasing more than 150
This is the week of 1 vs. 2 from last season, so I too have a big ODL match. I'll be at howzzat, who are a bit of a bowling monster. On the upside, curzon cc went bot, so I don't have a realistic worry of not winning the series. On the down side, I'm already on the outside of autopromotion, so I really can't afford another loss.
End of Over 50: 207-8, runrate=4.14 Regis 10-1-57-1 Allaway* 84 (130 balls) Person 5 (2 balls) Last Wicket: Rowe c. William b. Regis 4 (FOW: 201/8) Let them off the hook. The bats have a tough task ahead of them now, cracked pitch, cloudy & humid.
End of Over 40: 164-5, runrate=4.10, reqrunrate=4.40 (207-8) Person 10-0-34-0 Brough* 40 (53 balls) Borrowdale 75 (111 balls) Last Wicket: Charles c & b. Martyn 0 (FOW: 90/5) these 2 teasing me
oh man, that stinks. I won the toss and am bowling in partly cloudy & windy weather on a cracked pitch. End of Over 1: 6-1, runrate=6.00 Rose 1-0-6-1 Barrowdale* 2 (3 balls) Andrews 3 (2 balls) Last Wicket: Holder c. Mapie b. Rose 0 (FOW: 0/1) their opener fell for a golden duck. have to keep the pressure on!
so much for pressing the advantage. End of Over 26: 128-2, runrate=4.92 Coetzer 8-1-28-1 Peters* 54 (71 balls) Andrews 66 (77 balls) Last Wicket: Barrowdale b. Coetzer 2 (FOW: 6/2) got his two best bats in and they are not being troubled.
