I know the change in elevation across the site is in the documents, but it's interesting to see it really taking shape. At the north end of the site, the foundation is at street level while it is significantly above street level toward the southern portion of the west stand. Due to this, it's a bit striking to see how much excavation is necessary on the northern portion of the site.
As of right now all 3 supporters group will be grouped together and not given their own sections......
Makes sense given the past track record for profanity and poor behavior I'd segregate them from the folks with kids. Nothing personal there.
Google stitched panorama of the west stand foundation and wall. Northwest corner More of the northwest corner showing that the north and west stands are not connected. I saw more rodent control this weekend although I still saw a ********ing beaver by the PEPCO plant. I assume the coffee cups I saw next to two of the traps was the lure. Looking north at the west foundation from the edge of the south building South building
I don't see this as a problem per se, given that said SGs were the driving force behind the much-vaunted "supporters' culture" that distinhuished DCU from the MLS 1.0 pack. In terms of folks with kids, again no different than what we have now in the x32 thru x36+ sections of RFK. The biggest issue with kids hearing dirty words is when the FO sells Nest tickets to Ma and Pa Kettle and their young-unz. The FO needs to make the new North End restricted to card-carrying SG membets only. I'll start holding my breath . . . now
Sitruc, you complete me. Thanks again for all the pics. Your updates are keeping me going this season.
IIRC, it was included in the initial stadium artist rendering* back in 2014. It's been mysteriously missing from all subsequent design renderings . . . *you know-- the early version of the design that gave us hope and nipple hard-ons. Now we're depressed, with spongy chests . . .
Checked out the stadium site this past Saturday. Parked at the corner of T St and 1st street and took some mediocre pictures. It looks like they are still excavating the footers of an old building - I don't know much about construction though. In my unprofessional opinion it doesn't seem possible that they'll complete this thing before next July/maybe even August.
I'll post photos of the past two or three weeks later, but those are not old footers. They packed that portion of the site, drove them and now are excavating around them.
I believe you but my lack of knowledge about construction is hurting my ability to see how that sequence of events makes any sense
Also - I believe that the structure of the stadium itself is modular enough that will go up pretty quickly once the foundation is in. Kind of like Crew Stadium with the top of the line trim level. james
I've been somewhat excited to see all the progress (thanks to sitruc and a few others) on the site. I still wish they were building it with local labor instead of some bogus prefabbing going on in NC, but that's likely the fault of a bad contract the city made to not help local employment. Whatevs. Will be nice to finally see local people snapping the pieces together one day in the future. And can I just say ... ******** you if your damned kids can't handle a little colorful language
Well, I always thought my kids should learn those words at home. . . along with daddy's sincere apology and explanation of why they shouldn't use those words, of course. asitis
Uhhh, you're talking about Audi Field, right? Just checking. (Thanks, FO, for turning me into such a cynical beast. I didn't used to be.)
