As previously noted, perhaps a mod can excise and create and new thread devoted to the band known as Kap and the Governators. And deep six the non-alcoholic beer discussion by general acclamation.
But it was just pointed out the latest one currently presides over a surplus... Should it just always be 0 sum?
Anthony J Olejniczak, an analytics guy but not a lawyer, has set up a webpage to reconstruct the timeline of Precourt and MLS collusion to move the Crew to Austin. https://www.crewnotdoneyet.com/
Sort of a double post, this was the thread I actually meant to post it in, though... This commercial has been on a lot lately... I know it's coincidental as Continental Tire's colors just happen to be black and yellow, but is anybody else irked by the irony here?
Don Garber taking a piss on Columbus has contaminated the water in Cincinnati. http://www.journal-news.com/sports/...a-outrageously-stupid/Umx1TttvzbMgl0Un3wRb4H/
That article is written by a soccer hater, but he does make some good points. Cincinnati is only the third largest city in Ohio. Their "Metro Area" is pretty decent, but then you're reaching well outside the city limits. Yes, SJ has fans coming to games from pretty far away, so I shouldn't sweat that detail. BUT, the Columbus Metro area is just about the same size. What makes MLS or Precourt think they will do well in Austin? And if they think that Austin is such a great idea, then why didn't they just get Precourt to lead an Austin to MLS campaign? If it's such a great opportunity, there's no need to steal a team from another market. This is very crappy of MLS. It's just very sleazy to say the least. Go Quakes!! Stay Crew!! FUMLS!! - Mark
I saw a tweet that claimed Precourt has been lining up a buyer in Austin. That would seem like something a so-called venture capitalist would do. Move the team and sell for the equivalent of the current expansion fee. Then hightail back to the safety of Silicon Valley. We really need to picket his office when he's in it. I would love to do that with about 10 people.
An envelope arrived in today's mail, with a scrap of bed sheet stenciled "#SaveTheCrew" and perfectly sized for sneaking into a stadium, along with a note, which reads: "Thank you! "Your support for #SaveTheCrew means the world to us. This movement is rooted in Columbus, but it is globally relevant and our success relies on the involvement and engagement of soccer fans of every country, league and level. "In the earliest days of our movement we included on our website a sign-up for parties interested and receiving a #SaveTheCrew banner. The response was overwhelming, with the total count quickly exceeding 1,000 submissions. It's taken us some time to organize and plan how we could fulfill every single request, but we've finally got it sorted. "In its simplest form, what you now hold in your hands is merely paint and a fabric, but in reality it is much more. It is a badge of kinship. A pledge of your support for us and our efforts. But it is also a promise from us. One that state, should a similar fate befall you, we would return the favor and add our strength to yours. "In addition to displaying this at your stadium, business or home, we also encourage you to get involved in our movement by visiting our website (SaveTheCrew.com), as well as following us and adding your voice to the conversation on social media." Return address: SaveTheCrew PO Box 12632 Columbus, OH 43212
I got one of those too. I accidentally signed up, because I thought it was going to be a digital download. SO what do you suggest we do with these banners? Doesn’t anyone want to hunt down Precourt’s office and picket it with me?
I'd love to go picket with you, but I am inconveniently 575 miles away. Still living in exile, surrounded by ForestKiller fans, accosted by deranged SeaHocks fans every where I turn. Damn. If only there was good beer up here. Go Quakes!! Stay Crew!! F#$% MLS!!! - Mark
Taylor Twellman, whose initials stand for Top Twit, said at halftime of the Crew / TFC playoff match IN COLUMBUS that the top story in MLS currently, "hands down," "has to be" the Caleb Porter departure from the Timbers. I hated him as a commentator because he's a moron. I hate him now more generally because he's a corporate tool.
I forgot to watch the playoff games. I just turned on the HOUvSEA game, where HOU is losing after an ejection in the 28th minute. I assume since it was DOGSO, that Chris Penso had to have been backed up by VAR. ANd what happened in CLBvTOR? I thought for sure the players would feed off the fans. But the stats and the MLS game summary don't look very impressive for either side.
Nice assist (not!) from Michael Bradley for the savethecrew movement. "From what I gather, there’s a lot going on and I get that and as an outsider I don’t know what that falls on, but again the reality is just that, as the league has continued to grow and grow, and this is not the only one, but this is one of a few markets that has not kept pace." Reminds me of how LD dissed SJ when he came back and got vociferously booed. Something to the effect of "well, at least they showed up...".
