French Connection United Kingdom? I used to have a baseball cap they produced and sold (in Abu Dhabi, of all places) to promote their stores in the Middle East.
I can't wait for this fiasco to be officially behind us...so I can see what the heck happens with various expansion candidates who get shafted by Precourt's end-around.
Final Results: -No. Parallel paths not mentioned. If you didn't know any better, you'd wonder why he was speaking about Columbus and Austin at the same time. -No. He was respectful of the Haslam/Edwards collabo and their efforts. Alex Fischer's speech yesterday gave more credit to MLS. -Yes. Didn't use a lot of ifs but definitely made it seem like it could not happen. -No. No mention of the #SaveTheCrew warriors or any fans. -Yes. Duh. -Yes. Mentioned Rooney and Zlatan. Did mention that they were older though which surprised me. -Yes. But in his defense, he was equally excited about Columbus and spoke of a future with both. 4/7
Ah I stopped listening once the moderator said the first few questions were going to come from the Atlanta based media. You're up to 5/7 u/HungarianSteven! Raising that batting average!
Wasted my time watching that crap. Seriously seemed aluded to that the Canadian teams are eventually going to leave MLS Columbus barely mentioned at all. I love my Crew, but I hate this shit show of a league
Also, I may have listed to nearly the entire thing before realizing I was listening to last year's video. I'd switched over to YouTube so I could stream and run other apps after Couter stopped blathering. D'oh! You quoted me before I deleted my post. However, this should also tell you how generic this shit is.
I think I hate MLS more now than ever just becuse Austin is entering the league. Their fans already think they are going to sell out every game and win all the stands. We might as well forget about the game on the field (that’s right I said FIELD not pitch) and just give wins and losses based on attendance. If I was not clear before I’ll reiterate....first Austin vs Columbus game I will end up in jail and it will be all my fault.
Well, they mentioned Columbus and then went right on to Austin. Billionaires investing in the league, pushing forward a 500 million dollar project in the original team does not equal precourt's stadium and soccer park like thing.
I have a huge feeling that Austin FC will be the definition of a vocal minority (like six people) setting a bad example and creating disdain for a fairly decent majority of fans. Kind of like most fan bases.
One thing that annoyed me about Don today was his answer to a question about some of the struggling teams. He said that no team was struggling like Kansas City was, and they were able to be turned around due to a new attitude and efforts from the ownership group, stadium/rebranding, etc. And he said that he was confident about if KC can be fixed that others can too. OK DON, WHERE WAS THIS POSITIVITY ABOUT THE CREW LAST YEAR?
Go back an listen to last year's questions. There's a reporter that asks literally that. And Don says the opposite thing to all the vitriol he'd just spewed about our city .
were people here really expecting don to do anything more than mention us in passing? Edit: And I mean that question in the context of things still not being finalized. not meaning to refer to the idea that don/ the league will ignore our success here in the end.
Once this is all finalized they are going to swoop in and try to claim they had a role in it. They will tout the new stadium from the rooftops. Right now they are being pessimistic to try to get the city to pass everything quickly.
Precisely. If anything it would hurt the Austin deal and just put on display how dumb they are in general. Quantifying how badly they misjudged the situation (and city) in Columbus will be something sports historians discuss for decades...they don't want to put it on display right away.
For those banned from the Austin forum, if you want access to other cities expansion fora, contact Super Mod Ismitje. Ask nicely and he may restore your access to Cincinnati, Miami, Nashville, etc.
Be sure not to banter in the threads marked “official” because we are ********ing children needing a steady hand!
