Is there something to Chicago's agreement prohibiting a local TV deal or is it simply that they're without one right now? I ask because Atlanta has always had a local outlet through the 2 regional Fox sports networks. I honestly don't recall the last time (if ever) they had an MLS match where streaming was the only viewing option.
MLS Disciplinary, Week 29: Giovanni Savarese bench behavior https://www.mlssoccer.com/mls-disciplinary-summary/2019/week29/giovanni-savarese?autoplay=true Savarese is the teachers pet, he gets a simple fine and Almeyda gets a 3 game suspension.
I don't believe so. It would have took paying a local TV provider (NBC Chicago Sports, WGN, ABC, NBC, CBS etc) to get games on local TV. That's not something our owner was willing to do. This isn't the first time he's done something like this, back in 2013 (I think it was that year), he put us on NBC Chicago 5.2, needed to get rabbit ears in order to get the games.
Which all means I shall once again thank the soccer gods for landing Blank as an owner in Atlanta and finding all these partners will to help treat this like a major league sport/team. United may not be as popular but all the media outlets treat it like a peer to the Falcons, Braves, & Hawks.
