Why there was no fine for Baird: To recap, Victor Rodriguez has been fined by the DisCo because he was found guilty of simulation, and the referee did not issue a yellow card during the game.Corey Baird cannot be suspended for simulation resulting in a penalty because it was checked by VAR in-game.— MLS Referee Stats (@MLSRefStats) March 15, 2019
Complete list of MLS players called up to national teams https://www.prosoccerusa.com/mls/complete-list-of-mls-players-called-up-to-national-teams/ This seems like one of the smallest call up lists I can recall - Barely 20 players outside of US and Canada. You could play right through this window and you really wouldn't know the difference with most teams. Concacaf in particular. is sparse 1 player from Costa Rica and Mexico, none from Honduras, Trinidad, El Salvador, Guatemala. Just two from Jamaica. Only real representation outside of US and Canada is 3 players from Panama. Georgia and Paraguay called each called up two players which makes up about 1/6 of the foreign pool.
Not that you'll notice any difference in quality... SJE is losing 5 starters (one US, two Georgia and two Panama)
So, the way San Jose has been playing, it makes the Chris Wondolowski goal scoring record chase more interesting. Though, if he is on the field for a PK, I'd imagine he'd take it just to tie Landon's record.
I'm very happy the Loons (for the first time in our history) are not playing during the international break, since we have five guys called up.
The list is incomplete by at least six: four from Cincinnati (Waston and Cruz to Costa Rica, Powell and Mattocks to Jamaica) and two from RSL (Johnson to Liberia, Rusnak to Slovakia). Oh, and In-Beom to South Korea from Vancouver. And there are probably more (I didn't work too hard to come up with those seven).
Crew are losing 4.5 starters and a backup. Trapp, Zardes, Steffen for US. Francis for Costa Rica. Meram, who started the first 2 matches, to Iraq. And Keita for a US youth team.
Tinnerholm from NYCFC apparently called up too, for Sweden. Methinks it's time to ignore that source and try somewhere else.
I didn't check but just looked and SJE isn't playing until the 30th either. So we'll still have the piss poor quality we've all grown to love.
The Dynamo have Elis, Quioto, and Figueroa called up for Honduras this weekend, Ceren for El Salvador, and Struna for Slovenia.
