He joined the team kinda late so it depends on his fitness level, it possible he comes on as a late sub.
MLS Round 2 summary: Ceren played the entire match against Montreal. Houston Dynamo won 2-1. Portillo did not play against Vancouver. RSL won 1-0. Neither Fito nor Ruso played in the LAFC vs Portland match. LAFC won 4-1 and Timbers were down to 10 men. LAFC fans decided to fight each other anyway https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu2fj8DFFog/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=hyp1tqb833o3
Miguel Palafox has signed with USL club Las Vegas Lights. Last year he was at Estudiantes Teco, in Mexico’s third division. Pleased to see he’s popped up once again. https://www.lasvegaslightsfc.com/2019-roster http://vegassportsdaily.com/getting-to-know-lv-lights-signee-miguel-palafox/
Christian Rodríguez, ex del FAS y del Tulsa de la USL, se probará en equipos de liga de ascenso en Bélgica. Exjugador del FAS irá a prueba a fútbol de Bélgica
Joshua Pérez has been loaned to Phoenix Rising of the USL from LAFC. https://www.lafc.com/post/2019/03/14/lafc-loans-four-players-phoenix-rising-fc-31419
None of the four Salvadoran MLS players played in Round 3. Fito Zelaya is injured, which explains why he hasn’t even made the bench yet for LAFC.
Alex Cerritos could have possibly joined too since he was an academy product, if it doesn’t work out for him in Mexico it could be a landing spot for him similar to Amanda Moreno when he returned to Red Bulls.
Then I hope that he gets called up in the future to Loudoun, DCU having an official B team means that these academy players have a chance of going pro.
LAFC defeated Real Salt Lake 2-1. Fito once again was not called up to LAFC’s squad. Portillo came on for RSL and made his debut, only to receive a red card.
Darwin Ceren came on at the 79th minute in Houston Dynamo’s 4-1 victory over Colorado Rapids. Neither Fito nor Portillo (who was red carded in the previous match) played in this round. With the way Carlos Vela has been playing thus far, I don’t see Fito taking his spot anytime soon. Ruso of Portland Timbers are playing against LA Galaxy tomorrow.
Ruso came on at the 73rd minute for Portland in their match against San Jose. They lost 3-0. Neither Fito (LAFC) nor Portillo (RSL) played this weekend. Meanwhile, over in Iceland, Punyed’s club KR Reykjavik has won the Icelandic League Cup. He played 7 matches and scored 6 of the 19 goals scored by KR. This marks the 6th title that Punyed has won in Iceland. El salvadoreño Pablo Punyed se corona con Reykjavik en Islandia
Juan Barahona has signed a pre-contract with USL team Sacramento Republic FC External Links: https://www.elgrafico.com/futbol/Juan-Barahona-jugara-en-los-Estados-Unidos-20190406-0004.html
If he can stay there for at least 2 years the it could potentially work out for him since Republic FC is probably next in line for MLS expansion, the city just approved a stadium deal so their chances are higher than ever.
We just need these players to start making the jumps. USL should be used as a stepping stone for them not a mainstay.
The problem is that many MLS teams don’t really look at the USL for talent unless they play for their B-Team or Affiliate team, so making the jump would be hard.
They do get some players, and it’s up to our guys to be able to show that they deserve to be those players
Meanwhile it looks like Tamacas will probably be heading back to El Salvador soon, he hasn’t made the bench for Luqueno in a while since the new coach has taken over.
Ruso started in Portland’s 2-1 loss to FC Dallas, and played 87 minutes. Ceren came on at the 80th minute in Houston’s 2-1 victory against San Jose. Neither Fito nor Portillo saw game time with LAFC or RSL respectively.
Derby Carrillo, who resigned from Santa Tecla, has had an offer from China. https://www.elgrafico.com/futbol/Po...eguira-en-el-Clausura-2019-20190409-0005.html Meanwhile, fellow Salvadoran-American teammate Oscar Sorto has also left Santa Tecla and will return to the US. Interesting to know that he did not have his papers in order, so he was playing as a foreigner and therefore occupying a foreign spot at ST. https://www.elgrafico.com/futbol/Otro-jugador-deja-el-Santa-Tecla-en-pleno-torneo-20190415-0010.html
Ruso started in Portland’s 3-1 victory against Colombus, and played 85 minutes. No other MLS Salvadoran saw game time this round.
