I blame Nagle. There were strong indications that MLS wanted Sacramento for the last three years -- senior MLS executives flew out to Sacramento more than any other expansion candidate city. What killed us was Nagle not being willing to relinquish any control until after we got passed over for Nashville, when he'd already driven away big investors.
Tldr reddit post about COO STH event answers and Nagles interview this morning. I) knew and expected FCC to get bid since December. II) Has been in contact with >100 investors regional, national, intl Iii) down to to negotiating with 2 investor groups from previous 3-5 IV) NDAs apply on these types of financial negotiations so lack of news right until negotiations are complete and media invites are sent out for an announcement (like Nashville) V) COO expects new lead investor and announcement before end of season
Sadly, too predictable. So now we can expect something “before the end of the season... maybe...” great.
Although point #3 sounds like progress, there is a big difference between: a) "we have narrowed the relevant investors through a professional vetting process of high standards", and b) "three investor groups have ceased answering my phone calls." And we've been hearing #5 for two years now. Move along, folks, nothing to see here.......
After reviewing the interview it's actually 2 investor group(s) which is a situation of either one or the other or both with both being able to take the bid through the finish line. Garber and the MLS knows who "they" are and are in contact with both the SRFC group and these investor groups. Further in the interview, Nagle states that he wants to make it absolutely sure that the investor or investor(s) which will take over the bid will stay committed not only to SRFC but also investing in Sacramento & soccer over the long term (cough precourt and columbus shenanigans). Also according to the reddits it's also the reason Whitman pulled out. Other notable things is that since the December announcement of Nagle putting in $30 mil into the bid, that has increased to $35 mil now. Further updates from the Reddits I) The expansion price is locked in. II) Sacramento is mostly vetted by the MLS; once Nagle comes to an agreement with one or both of the investor(s) groups and the bid is submitted, they expect a response within 1-2 weeks.
You are all peddlers of false hope! I am staying out here on the doom ledge where it's depressing but safe.
Are they saying they expect Miami to be delayed a few more years? Because that's the only way Sacramento gets an answer that soon.

That line does have the smell of desperation in it, doesn't it? I give Mr. Nagle credit for showing up to Reddit....that place can be a wild free-for-all at times. But to be honest, he didn't say anything that others on this board haven't said before....including the "I know more, but can't tell you" spiel.
While Gal Gadot hasn't committed to having a torrid love affair with me, she also hasn't said she would not.
Hey, I've been killing the guy on twitter. I put a couple of questions on that subreddit, we'll see if he continues to respond. It's entirely possible that some of his advisers have finally impressed upon him that he needs to reach out a bit more than he has in the past. I'm just hopeful that he doesn't keep up with the "I know more than you but I can't tell" schtick.
What right do any of us have to know? It reduces stress, but trying to conduct business in public often leads to failure.
San Jose Ultras? If so, can you check on the status of the original Supporters Shield that they have stolen. I can facilitate getting it to the new National Soccer Hall of Fame - their publicly stated reason for not surrendering the Shield when their year was up.
