For the last 10 years or so my club, Reading (UK), have had a big focus on developing young players and have been gaining a reputation for doing it well of late (13 of the 18 man squad yesterday were from our academy - thats pretty uniqiue in England). Last season we took it to another level with the youth team being a whisker away from being the champions and cup winners. of that team there are half a dozen who I think will break into the first team this season. 2 players in particular have been talked up a lot in the press and have had great pre seasons, and one of those is Ryan Edwards. he has been on loan at Perth for the last year or so but is back with us now and made his debut yesterday. He only played the last 20 minutes or so but looked very handy, quick and determined. very high hopes for him
Edwards started today and we won away at 'Boro. Started during the week too when we won. sold Alex McCarthy yesterday so Federici is now our guaranteed keeper
At the stadium now and edwards & team mates are warming up in front of me. He is on the bench today I believe
Someone stopped in at our training ground today to watch their kids playing, a few of our lads took the chance to get a photo http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/david-beckham-spotted-reading-fc-7771417
