Thank God people in his community helped pay for his academy fees or we wouldn't be talking about him right now.

Watched rougly all of the first half. The good news is Rubin is the brightest spot for the offense. The bad news is their offense besides him are TERRIBLE. It really shows how not great this side is.

Rubin played 90 minutes in a 2-1 win. Didn't score, but assisted on the first goal. Only had one real chance, and he should have scored on it, but it wasn't a shocking miss or anything like that. Exhibited a lot of skill and was very dangerous. He drew a number of free kicks and corner kicks, one of which lead to the game winning goal.

I think he deserves to at the very least be on the bench when everyone is healthy. I've seen the types of players that Utrecht had last year when they had Agudelo. Rubin even at 18 years old is better than a lot of these guys.

It was an ingenious dummy, expertly sold. That's as good as a goal on most scorecards.

Yea--that whif was embarassing lol but at least the guuy scored from it as a result.

I watched the whole game. Rubin was the most dangerous player when he had the ball to his feet. He skinned his defender many times to put some dangerous crosses. Even though in the formation he was the lone CF, many times he was on teh wings taking on defenders to put in dangerous service. He's sooooo good with the ball at his feet and feinting to beat guys. He earned a really good foul at the end to win a FK and to kill off some time. He faked a guy out so bad the guy just ended up hacking him because of slow reflexes.

You don't happen to have it recorded, do you? Would love to see it, but I can't deal with horrible internet streams, particularly when my team is on concurrently.

If Chicharito in his good years had done that's what everyone would say.

He was definitely more effective on the wing. I think that's where his future lies with the National Team.

I will be stunned if Rubio's NT future is on the wing.

Meh, those whiffs happen often, especially a whipped in cross and when you're coming back for it from an advanced position to try to wrap your foot around it.

Glad to hear he played well.

But then again.. Eddie Johnson was used there.. even if he played on the wing he'd be much more dangerous than most of our options

Pretty savvy choice of club by the kid &/or his advisors. Encouraging to have a couple teens breaking in at a good level right now. Hopefully, the start of a trend.

I don´t think his future líes there, he can play anywhere up front. It's just a testament to his versatility. The kid kind of reminds me of a grittier Aron Johannson. His step overs and confidence in himself going 1v1 at his age is lovely to see.
