Last week of the 2019 regular season. Waiting for the inevitable or fun times playoff run to glory? So RSL is in the playoffs which is a bit surprising to me. I have come to the conclusion that this team actually has some talent that an experienced and talented manager could really do something with but, with our FO situation at the moment, getting that person may be a challenge. So, yes I'm probably more curious and interested in the off season shenanigans for this team than whether or not they play in one or two playoff games and then having this season properly put to sleep, buried, cremated, forgotten. So, on the road=not good for RSL, in Canada=historically not good, on turf=so very, very not good historically=RSL 5 Vancouver 2. Why not?
That might be pushing it a bit. We know he can be dangerous for like 30 seconds, but 5 minutes? Let's hope.
If only Vancouver had built their stadium in Point Roberts it wouldn't technically be on foreign soil. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point_Roberts,_Washington
Looking at the notable residents who called Point Roberts home includes a few hockey players and Kekuta Manneh, who lived there so he could fulfill the US residency requirements before getting US citizenship. Point Roberts sounds like Campione d'Italia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campione_d'Italia
At this point, next year is probably going to be a mess so RSL should just go for it. Throw the kitchen sink at Vancouver, try to get as good a playoff seed as possible, ?????, win MLS Cup!
I wouldn't consider Kaliningrad (or Konigsberg for all you Prussian matheticians and beer-drinking philosophers) the same thing. It's more like an Alaska situation.
Going into this match one cannot help to think about some of the points lost during the season. 2-1 RSL.
I'm kicking myself for not staying up to date on my points stolen/lost thread. Its too late now to go back and give an honest assessment on games. From my past experience doing that thread, though, things tend to level out over a season unless you're having some crazy luck (either direction) that is an anomaly.
So if we win today? we have a real good chance of getting that home playoff match. Worse result would be a Seattle vs Minnesota draw. Houston cannot shock LA two years in a row.
Healthy DP Sam Johnson not starting again tells me all I need to know about where he stands this offseason.
Away to Vancouver is when I wanted to have Olmes Garcia on the pitch. (He is with a Colombian Second Division team this season.)
I'm enjoying this game a ton. The lead up to that goal was beautiful to watch. It's fun to have Tony Beltran on the broadcast, but he seems a tad hesitant/nervous. Once he gets into his groove, he could be great. And Freddy looks incredibly nervous.
