So I know there is no expansion draft after this season, but if there was, which 11 players would you protect? My picks:

    Rimando
    Garcia
    Plata
    Beltran
    Grabavoy
    Schuler
    Beckerman
    Morales
    Borchers
    Saborio
    Wingert

    Ready...go!

P.S. I might also swap Palmer for Wingert.

    Borchers? Wingert?

    No Gil, Seba,Salcedo or Sandoval?

I personally would keep Gil & Salcedo over wingert and borchers.

    Carlos
    Schuler
    KB
    Javi
    Gil
    Sabo
    Plata
    Olmes
Tony - purely to keep him to get something later
    Vela

You keep the really top guys you can't lose for nothing, and then the cheap younger guys with potential
For me, that means guys like Grabavoy, Borchers, Wingert, etc don't belong on the list

I don't think Gil is worth the money he makes. Sandoval was my #12. I also considered Salcedo over Borchers. It's a tough one.

no, he's maybe not worth that pay check, but the eventual purchase from Arsenal/Euro club is worth protecting him, to me.

Also, he is our best option in the diamond this year. He and Grabs separated themselves from the pack, I feel

I'd have Gil and Salcedo in the protected for sure. Sure right now Gil probably isn't worth the money, but what happens if he explodes in the next year or two? I'd take that bet over protecting someone like Borchers who is on the wrong side of 30 and could go even more downhill in the next year or two. The only over 30 people I'd protect is Morales, Rimando, KB and Ned. Anyone else should be fairly easy to replace by either our bench, or by signing someone else.

Ned hasn't been protected in the last expansion draft or two. I know he has improved this year, but that doesn't change that he is over 30 and a (really good) role player.

Using a spot on him would be pointless, to me.
His salary and age would scare off many teams - it did already and both those numbers are higher than before

With the way he's played overall this year, I could see a team maybe grabbing him. Granted by the time the next draft comes along, it'll be a whole different list of guys to look at.

The team bet the farm on the youth movement...so unless you want to make like TFC and reset the plan every year, you protect the youth movement and your central core...and like people have said use the high salaries to scare teams off of most if not all of the aging vets like Borchers, Grabavoy etc.

The core is Rimando, Saborio, Beckerman, Morales. The youth movement is Plata, Garcia, Sandoval, Gil, Salcedo, Schuler, and either Beltran or Velasquez or remotely Wingert (just age).

If Kwame can get healthy he's a real risk to get picked up, maybe Grossman too so the un-named cursing team can exploit some MLS policy and trade a can of magic Keane beans for him.

This. I would also try to make a deal with the other teams to keep Grabavoy from being picked or have them pick him just to make another deal to send him back ( send a draft pick).

Honestly, I hope we don't have to do another expansion list. Why can't these teams build their own ******** teams. ;)

I love this thread. MLS has been inundated with Expansion Drafts almost every year since they came into the league. So we have one year without, and we have a Hypothetical Expansion Draft. We'll have real speculation the next two years.

I don't recall them being confirmed to join MLS in 2015.
All they've said is they got funding for the stadium renovation and that they'll be playing at the Disney sports complex for the 2014 season.

More hypothetical: If NYCFC & Orlando's BS forums had to hold an expansion draft for BS posters, who would you protect? Prolific's got to be on the list just to retain his rights, right?

How many do we get to protect?
At the very least you gotta keep 15 to 32, Boz, and UPinSLC.
That's like, the soul of this "team".

I assume Ismitje counts as a DP and is automatically protected.

So I'm going to Orlando or NYCFC?

That's if Lurpy gets to pick who's protected as a poster in the big soccer expansion draft.

I think Prime would be okay being picked by Orlando.

Maybe if I lived there. I'm like a Wondo like DP, I get paid more than all of you but I'm rally nothing special. Ismitje is more like a Beckham. Sexy and mega rich.
