I thought we needed one of these. First topic, it looks like there is another attacking player available to potentially join the deepest team in history: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/03/01/report-la-galaxy-buy-out-giovani-dos-santos-contract
On another note, my wife has officially declared this The Year of the Goat and says she is trademarking this term. She says RSL is going to win everything this year for Nicky. Now you all know what to expect from this season.
Yeah, Los Galaxy got rid of him but kept his younger brother. Just think of the kitchen table arguments that will ensue....
Honestly, picking up GDS wouldn't be the worst idea. I don't trust our GM to get us a deal on it like Chicago got with Yura, though.
GDS would be a bad move in my opinion as well. Almost any move by this GM would be a bad move probably.
Only 2 weeks in, and still 4 games left this weekend. It also looks like Sounders game may not yet be included, but there is an interesting trend developing: RSL leads the league in shots with 32 and SOG with 11, and Savarino and Rusnak are in the top 3 for shots taken. Will be interesting to watch.
Damir is about as close to having two goals as it is possible to be. One each game produced impressive saves fro the goalkeepers.
Wasn't there talk of another town hall meeting? I have a question if anyone is willing to ask: RSL's average attendance has steadily declined every season since 2014. With the lowest attended home-opener since 2012 (over 3,000 fewer than last season and at least 2,000 fewer than any season since 2012) how does RSL plan to remedy the trend?
Maybe stop raising ticket prices every year? I wouldn't be surprised to see a number of families priced out over the last few years. Also doesn't help that the team hasn't been terribly exciting overall the last few years. Hard to justify a higher cost when the product on the field is lacking.
I think while this is a factor for some, it has very little to do with it in the big picture. The real answer is that the team needs to put a higher quality product on the field. Attendance last year was down 9% from the peak in 2014. The team also had 14% fewer points last year than back in 2014. I would say there is a pretty significant correlation there. Obviously, raising prices while the onfield product has deteriorated is not a good combination. I think Sat's attendance was a bit of a function of weather, rather than reduced interest. We've actually been lucky in recent years to have mostly warm openers, but this one was not. Having snow the day before likely scared a decent number of people off.
