RSL plays on the opposite side of the continent this Sunday at Orlando. Quite a few frequent flyer miles are being staked in the last two games. That's about the only positive thing I can say for RSL in this one. Orlando is red hot and, even worse, play a style that I think will cut through this RSL team like a hot knife and butter. Maybe we can catch this Orlando team reading too much into their own hype, but I kind of doubt it. This has multiple goal loss written all over it. XI I expect we'll see: Baird Plata Rusnak Savarino Kreilach KB Henley Besler Glad Lennon Nicky Bench: Sparrow, Acosta, Ruiz, Sunny, Luke, Bofo, Ricky If either of the Silva's, Horst, or Ortuno are fit enough to play I bet they are on the bench given how long they've been out and that they didn't play with the Monarchs this week. I think Henley, after going 90 with the Monarchs, jump Ruiz at LB. We haven't lost 2 games in a row this year yet but I just don't see how we even salvage a draw. 5-1 Orlando
RSL wins 1-0 on Jason Kreis own goal!! Yes I know that impossible...there is no way we will get a shutout in this one.
Orlando has been winning but they haven't been convincing. There's a reason people call them the "Cardiac Cats". Feels crazy that just a month ago, everybody thought Kreis had the hottest seat in MLS.
they haven't been overly convincing, that's true, but nothing about this RSL side right now makes me think we're going to be the ones to break their streak of winning while having slumps in play. Dwyer is going to eat our back-line alive
A match for my birthday, what will RSL get for me? Looks like a multi goal loss. Lucky for us a Jason Kries team usually plays down to their opponent, so I don't think it will be super bad with a 3-1 loss. Anyway here is our referee lineup Orlando City v Real Salt Lake Orlando City Stadium (3PM MT) REF: ROBERT SIBIGA AR1: JASON WHITE AR2: ERIC WEISBROD 4TH: MARCOS DEOLIVEIRA VAR: CALEB MENDEZ
My birthday always falls around memorial day (fair warning for those of you doing shopping). Historically, RSL has always made a trip to Texas at this time. So, yeah, my birthday present from the club has typically been a horrendous performance. Anyways... This game is on Sunday but not on national TV. So thats something. Twice in a row we've had weird gamedays not justified by national TV. An interesting note on RSL this season: we've yet to play in a game that finished 0-0. Every game has had at least a goal. I don't expect that to change this weekend but would love it to.
Anyone heading to this game? I caught a game in Orl when I was there for a conference. One whole side of the stadium is for standing only and has rails with drink holders. It's a great atmosphere.
It will be interesting to see if this is the case. A lot of rumblings from the staff that Ruiz could be the left back of the future for RSL (I'm sure Acosta loves hearing that). Also, Henley is not a LB, but there has been a greater need at LB to this point since Lennon has done an admirable job in that spot.
If we suffer another multi goal lose today, when do we start questioning the decisions and leadership of our Head Coach? Things are not looking so bright for this club. Two years ago I was in Orlando and watched us give up two very late goals and 3 points. I would be thrilled with that same result today.
Well, his decisions and leadership have been severely questioned in several of our threads. A multi-goal loss today is the expectation, so I don’t know if that will ratchet of the heat or not if it happens.
Same XI as last game, which is . . . I am not sure what it is. Rimando Ruiz Besler Glad Lennon Kreilach Rusnak Beckerman Plata Baird Savarino Bench: Sparrow, Henley, Herrera, Sunny, L Silva, Saucedo, Lopez-Espin
Absorb . . . Absorb . . . Absorb . . . Spring with Baird! Game plan, no? Almost had us up by two there with the shot off the post. Orlando is fun on the attack, and quite varied.
I see that "Iron Lion Firm" banner for an Orlando supporters group and think: That sign so should be in Salt Lake, how did that continually get avoided by the club and so many supporters? (I know it was discussed here as a good team song.)
It was used at the end of wins at home for a few years at least, and I loved it. Post from Rusnak, good save on Sava by Bendik.
Well, we lost again. Time to pick out all the positives so we can pretend we aren't pure garbage, just the unluckiest team in the universe.
Not unlucky. Not clinical enough in the finishing. We created great chances, for long stretches. We executed a game plan with good focus and skill. Eventually, however, the lack of production from that game plan and the inevitable capabilities of Orlando's newfound offensive power meant we would lose. I liked the overall spirit, teamwork, and work-rate.
