Well, that wasn't predictable, but it was terrible from Rusnak who had two good runs and chose the third, very poorly. Nicky! Huge save on Piatti.
I used to complain about the quality of Lennon's crosses, but he's become quite reliable and dangerous. Except who do we have in there that can finish them? Only late runs from Kreilach. Otherwise it's a dubious exercise to keep taking them.
I would love to be surprised, but I don't see a winner from our team tonight. Last year we had a series of three ties at home that were the difference in making or missing the playoffs. Chalk up San Jose, Colorado, and Montreal as the 2018 version.
I was going to post something similar. The poor home stand against vulnerable teams is extremely disappointing. Montreal was 0-11 when giving up the first goal. Yet they managed a draw against us in the RioT.
This! If it's close at the end of the season for the playoffs they'll talk all about points, scenarios, etc.. over those last few games and what RSL needs to do. But it's these points at home that are the greatest cost. 6 points. 3 draws at home that were all dropped leads puts is struggling for the 6th spot rather than all the way up at the 2nd if we had held the lead in those 3 games at home.
Montreal has emerged as the team we all thought they would be at the start of the season. As the game progressed, I increasingly felt fortunate that we were in a draw and hadn't yet given up the losing goal. OTOH, we had some chances. Not good chances... crap... we were lucky to get the draw, period. We didn't cash in our early control of the game and nearly paid full price.
That was brutal. RSL should have put this game away but continued their theme of playing like their up by 4 goals only to let their opponent score a cheap goal and get right back into the game. Beckerman with a wide open header should have sealed but alas it went awry. There were times where they played kind of well but stunk it up the rest of the time. Glad and Herrera we’re getting used and abused much of the game. Lucky for them Rimando had a decent game and Montreal couldn’t find a wide open net. This is not a playoff team. I expect 0 points out of the next 3 road games and for RSL to be passed in the standings for the last spot before the next home game. Should be interesting. This team has such a hard time playing with any urgency it gets so frustrating. Also, could someone tell Petke he can sub before the 80th minute? And that he has 3 subs. Come on!
RSL played a decent first half, but over time the Impact showed they were a better side. More Fit. Much faster. Much more precise with passing. The number of really awful bad passes RSL served up to spring Montreal counters in the second half was abominable. I know it was hot and smoky - but Montreal just had way more energy. KB5 looked like he had ankle weights on. We all love him but...that career glue factory is sending notices more frequently now.
