...Because seasons are quicker laterally? For Glad, if we aren't able to have Marcelo, I would prefer Horst for his ability to win a ball in the air. Oh, and he's better with his feet than either Shuler or Maund (I know, he's gone). That is beyond damning with faint praise. It goes to show how incredibly crappy those two are with their feet when a defender who is considered to have poor skills at the MLS level is better.

My group has started neighing and scuffing the ground with our shoes whenever Horst does anything lately. And we quack when Plata gets the ball. It's essentially a farm in section 14.

I accepted Silva as our starting forward weeks ago. It's night and day compared to Yura. Yura seems uninterested, and doesn't seem to want to link up with the players at all. I'd honestly be fine if we never saw him play again. Anything he offers, Silva is doing better.

As far as the last paragraph, I'm one of those that didn't want him back. As a midfielder, I thought he was never all that great. Thankfully Petke has worked some magic and got him playing well as a forward. It was slow going, but that's expected when learning a new position. It's started paying dividends as of late, and I hope this continues.

That's one option. Another option is start the year in Petke shape, playing Petke ball, instead meandering lost in space for the first quarter of the season.

Sure, that bad stretch of only 3 points hurts, but whose to say if that even happens if we had Petke in the offseason? After camp Petke, we looked a lot better. It's almost as if we went through preseason in the middle of the year. It sure would've been nice to have done that in the actual preseason, instead of having to put up with Cassar instead.

    I agree on both counts.

This is definitely a playoff team with Petke coaching all season. For crying out loud if they had won those 3 games inspite of all the crap earlier this year they would be fighting for a top spot in the west.

I'm just trying not to get too hyped up about the playoffs. It's kinda hard after watching them play lately.

I made this basic point elsewhere, but hadn't looked at the breaks the team had midseason...

The team had a two week break in early June and another in early July, and that time to train and develop a team identity rather than simply prepping for the next game seems to have made a difference. Through June 2, the team was averaging under a point per game. In the four games in between, there were a pair of wins and a pair of losses. Since then, fifteen points in eight games.

You might think of it as nerd virtue signaling but I look at as metal head virtue signaling because if anyone in the Star Wars universe played heavy metal it was the death metal group, The Sith Lords with their lead singer/lead guitarist Darth Vader!

"Death to Yoda, Death to Solo!"
"Death to the Wookie, Death to Dooku!"
"Death to Young Skywalker, Death to Obi-Wan!"
"Death to Leia, Death to Alderan!!!"

So, something I wanted to share. Apparently a Colorado fan turned the other cheek and reveled the full moon to the crowd. I didn't see it (thankfully) but some other season ticket holders in front of me saw it.
