Odd starting time for a summer game, yes? Some other Greater SLC event happening of which I am unaware? Crew is playing at Philadelphia right now, and started their first choice guys both on the weekend and tonight. Higuain is out with a hurt knee, and starting defender Jonathan Mensah was red carded for DOGSO in half one (so lots and lots of running).
I am going to this one! Please let us get three points, I cannot remember the last time I saw out team win one at home.
This is my annual "root for a draw" game but it's certainly winnable for RSL. The Crew have been consistently inconsistent this season and they, like RSL, are prone to big defensive lapses. I'll actually be attending this one.
Looking for advice: I'm going to this game with my two sons (ages 6 and 8). I'm looking for the cheapest, best seats (in that order). Looks like the cheapest tickets are $20 on rsl.com. Where should we sit? With the 6pm start time, I'm guessing that sitting the east side would be brutal for this game...
As low in Sec. 27 as you can go. I just checked and there are three tix left on row K. You'll still be in the sun for a bit, but at least you'll be among the first along the north side to get some shade. Everything in 25 is gone or I'd suggest that one.
That would be pretty good. We sit in 25 and 24 gets the shade sooner. 6:00pm start will make it difficult for most to get shade even in 25.
Sorry I didn't think to mention 24, which is better, shade-wise. Be aware that Sec. 24 is a family section, so no beer.
With a 6pm kick, anything that's not on the west side will likely be in the sun for the full game. I sit on the east side, and 8pm kickoffs are ideal because I only have to deal with the sun for a few minutes at most. As nice as it will be to get home 2 hours earlier, I won't be a fan of being in the sun the whole time.
Nobody's posted the lineup yet? Where is everyone? In the $20 seats? I'm excited for this game. The lineup looks pretty solid!
The bench does, too. Schuler and Maund are way down the list now (and Schmidt can't see the light at all).
We are way too ********ing slow, everything is too slow, the passing, the movement, the switches, the whole damn team. Slightest amount of pressure from Columbus results in a turnover or a back pass to Rimando.
75% possession and a dozen shots, and no goals. Good saves from Steffen and that defender plus missed shots; should be 2-1 at least.
I tuned in just after the Columbus goal to watch a frustrating 30 minutes for RSL. The ideas are not bad but they just seem a step slow on everything. Giving up the goal is also giving Columbus to play deep and take away space in the final third. Petke just talked at half and he knows exactly what is happening (we are tired, playing into their hands, etc...). It will be interesting to see if his staff can read it the same and communicate that at the half.
Everyone taking 3-4 touches on the ball, holding it for 3-4 seconds, thay needs to be cut in half if we want to win this game. 1-2 touches with no more than 2 seconds on the ball, they need to break down the compactness of Columbus and the high press from the midfield. Can't do that when everyone is lolly gagging with the ball at their feet.
That was actually one of our less threatening-looking attacks, and I thank Josh Williams for sticking out his arm just enough to give up the PK. 1-1.
